Okay Guys, whenever you think of going to your favorite concert, getting the best tickets is always paramount in your mind. I know that it is with me. You want to get up close...and have the ‘in your face’ experience of a lifetime...right? :) Well, I asked you guys, posted messages on message boards, and below you will find all of the information that was given to me. Hopefully this guideline will help some of you when the time comes! :)
Note: If any of you come up with something else that will help, please let me know. We plan to keep this as updated as possible.
1. Don’t wait until the last minute!!! The minute the tickets go on sale, get down there, or online to get the seats you want. There are a couple of ways to go about this:
A. Buy your tickets online. Ticket Master is one of the favorites used, but I’m sure there are others as well.
B. Go to your local Ticket Master or box office early the day they go on sale.
1. Check around for places near where you live that most people don’t think of when they want to buy tickets. Try different grocery stores- some stores in Malls-even other little shops exist-you just have to call to see which ones are near you.
Note: Here’s what some people do as well: Probably the best option would be to coordinate with someone else and a cell phone. One stands in line at the box office, while the other tries to buy tickets online. Then you can exchange information about your position in line, and best available seats etc.
C. Some people use a ticket broker, instead of Ticket Master or other Ticket Agencies. From what I hear, you can find them in the yellow pages under ticket sales subbed under concert and/or event sales. Be prepared to pay more though. These guys are legal scalpers. Sometimes you can get better seats this way than through the normal means.
Note: If you are going as a group, try this trick: If you are getting more than 2 tickets, split them up. Try to get 2 in one place, and then 2 in another. You’ll get much better seats this way and getting closer to the stage is what you want! :)
Note: There is no guarantee that this will work, and if the show is a sell-out, you’re out of luck if you didn’t buy tickets before hand. My advice would be to save money and be prepared to buy two sets of tickets, if need be. It’s better to be safe than sorry. :)
3. Try to win a contest on the radio. When a big concert is coming to town, radio stations are always trying to give away backstage passes or tickets to a show. These tickets tend to be some of the best. Now...I didn’t mention this earlier because there is no guarantee that you’ll win, even if you try and try and try!!! Some of us just aren’t that lucky! On the other hand....*smiling*...there are those who have magic fingers and they have won tickets! Some of those wonderful people have offered these words of advice:
1. Local radio stations that offer concert tickets give you a much better chance of winning, because there are less listeners trying to call then say, a radio station in a major market area with millions of listeners.
2. Listening to the radio first thing in the morning and last thing at night helps too - there are less listeners at that time, even though the contests are still going on. That increases your chances too.
3. Although I have won several times, it wasn't easy to do. By that I mean - your radio and phone become your best buddies =) You don't leave either laying around where you are not close by - EVER! You must have a tolerant family =) as you have to readjust your whole life style for about an entire week - because that's usually how long contests run - it helps too if you are able to use more than one phone at a time...such as your home phone and a cell phone. So, just as more people involved helps, so does having more than one phone. Winning tickets and such from radio stations is fun if and when you get through - sometimes you have to play along with the DJs - like they will have contests in which you will participate with others - if you are lucky and win - you are rewarded with a pair of tickets. Now, I have played some strange games to win tickets or passes. But that’s just part of the fun!
4. I think the tricks to winning are 1. Knowing when to call - i.e. at the start of the designated song and 2. Having redial on the phone and multiple lines if possible (work phones help :-) and 3. Having the number already set so all you have to push is 'Redial'.
With this information, you have some idea of how you can possibly get pretty good tickets. Now, all you have to do is get a group of your best buds together and have a rockin good time! When the next Def Leppard tour comes along, Becky and I will be asking who is going to which concerts, and maybe we can gather a bunch of us Lepnetters together for a fun time. We’ll have to try our best.
Oh...don’t forget to give the Concert Safety section a peek. This is mainly for those of you who are new to the concert scene, but it never hurts to learn a little more.
