The more Earth  the better the album (rating from 1 to 5). Dante's Inferno

Brassé - Inferno (LaBraD'or 040001)

Here it is, a new Dutch product made by Marc Brassé. He is assited by guitar/keyboardplayer Maarten Huiskamp and singer Lenny Caanen. Inspired by Dante Alighieri Brassé describes a musical survival of a descent into hell and how someone can return reborn. The vocal parts are excellently framed by intriging instrumental passages. Dark elements emphasizes the atmosphere. Concerning the music you can notice different styles and influences. The song 'Follow me down' sounds a bit like Pet Shop Boys, especially the discodrums in it. In some other songs you will be aware of Gabrielesque influences. And in the song 'Dante - the pit' the voice of Brassé can be compared with David Bowie. The duet 'Who could blame us' had a weak begin but wins strenght during the song that sounds a bit like 'Remember the promise ..' of Cock Robin. Very special is 'Sharks and herrings' and the very rhythmic 'Betrayal' and 'Lucifer'. A succeeded concept without a specific label. That is an expection to the nowadays copies of prog bands.
