Quidam - Quidam (AMS 005R) 
     

Though we used to get familiar with the excellent Polish symphonic rock from Collage, we're really surprised by this Eastern European company named Quidam. With the beautiful singer Emila Derkowska with her lovely angellike voice and flute-player Ewa Smarzynska we have here the female part of the band. De other four gentlemen bringing their own capacities to complete this outstanding sixpiece band. They play faerielike symphonic music in which they hold back the atmosphere. They get to a real exctasy in the instrumental parts of the songs. With a mixture of Camel, Genesis and a bit of Collage, this debut album directly becomes a classic among the others. This cd should be a part of every respectable sympho/prog collection. Although the songs are completely in Polish, it doesn't break down the quality. Please, much more of this!
