Letter from Dicky Barrett: November 1996
Hmm. Okay. So this is not quite, but almost 737. I know, I know, we've been out of touch for too
long. I don't even know how long. Let me start by saying we apologize for the time lapse--we've
been so busy, writing and recording what we think is the best Bosstoens album ever. We spent a
lot of time working and reworking songs--we took the time that we needed. We think you'll love
it. Anyway, we've missed all of you and want to let you know what we've been up to. We just got
home from a 3 week West Coast tour, which started in Honolulu, HI at the "Big Mele" festival.
We played with Cypress Hill, Presidents of USA, No Doubt, and our friends, Dancehall
Crashers. After that we met Don Ho--yes, the myth, the legen...Mr. Tiny Bubbles himself. What a
nice guy. Then we hit Canada and the West Coast with our friend Joe Sib's new Band 22 Jacks
(you may remember Joe from Wax, and Matt from Face to Face), and the most amazing ska
band ever, the Pie Tasters frome Washington, DC. My oh my. What a way to spend the day.
Now we're going to NYC to mix our record, and then we're off to the Midwest. But first, we're
going to rock Old Hallow's Eve at the Worcester Auditorium with NYC's best Hardcore, Sick Of
It All and LA's own Sense Field. Pretty spooky...and to top that, we will then reunite with the Pie
Tasters at Roseland, NYC November 1st. We'll hit Minneapolis, St. Louis, Lawrence, the windy
city, Detroit Rock City and all the faves in between with the hippest cats, HEPCAT. Watch for us.
We're playing some new songs that you'll find on the album...due to you in Februrary...so thanks
to everone who came to see us on the Warped Tour. It was the best tour we've ever been on.
Everyone was super cool, and the bans were great--Rocket [From the Crypt], Suicide Machines,
CIV, Dancehall, and of course, Fishbone. You'll be happy to know that the Safe and Sound
benefit compliation on Big Rig is finally reaching stores on November 5th. There's some great
music on there, and it's for a great cause--safer health care for women. Check it out. So, here's
where I have to end. Again, sorry for the delay, sorry if there are any orders that are screwed up
(we've switched companies to better serve you, but the transition has been a complete bitch). Let
us know if there are any probelms. We're still us, you're still you. Thanks for caring. Look for a
real 737 to you before the end of the year.
Peace,
Dicky and The Bosstones
