The following is an excerpt from a show review of our gig with the Scofflaws & King 7 & the Soulsonics at the Rubb on September 17, 1997. It was written by Julio Diaz and appears courtsey of his own bad self and was published in the November 1997 issue of Ink Nineteen.
"Next up were Pork Pie Tribe, who've been playing so many high-profile gigs lately that we may have to change to name of Ink Nineteen to Pork Pie Tribe Monthly. The guys underwent a bit of a line-up shuffle, and are now basically back to an earlier line-up with the return of guitarist Shad Weigand and drummer J.D. Bell (the latter of whom has been back just a bit longer). This is definitely a change for the better. Shad has a somewhat harder, edgier style that gives the band a bit more bite, and J.D.'s drums drive the band with a tighter rhythm. Another great change is the addition of Jim Kathman on tenor and bari sax. The extra horn really fills out the sound, especially when Jim's playing the bari. What's more, the lineup change seems to have renewed the band's freshness and vigor. They really seem to be having a great time on stage! In fact, I'd go so far as to say this was one of the best performances the band has put on yet."
