Paula Abdul
Paula Abdul - whatever happened to her ? By no means a one hit wonder, you could call her a one CD wonder perhaps... well, not really that either. The former L.A.Lakers cheerleader and choreographer started her string of hits in mid 1988 with the L. A. Reid and Babyface produced song, "Knocked Out." Her debut CD, Forever Your Girl has one after another of catchy "dance" hits. For those interested in stats, it yielded four #1 pop hits and three others that charted.
Abdul's CD Shut Up And Dance (The Dance Mixes) has remixes of 7 of the songs from the first album plus a "medley mix."
Spellbound, which debuted in mid-1991, produced 5 pop hits, and 1995's Head Over Heels had 2 more; one of which, "My Love Is For Real" has Ofra Haza on backing vocals.
Yeah, Michael, but What Do You Think ??
I really like the first CD, Forever Your Girl, especially (in order): "Straight Up," "Opposites Attract," "The Way That You Love Me," "Forever Your Girl," "Cold Hearted" and "I Need You." What's that, four of the ten I'm not enthusiastic over ?
Other "dance" music artists I enjoy include Exposé, the Gap Band, Real McCoy, Madonna, Michael Jackson (yeah, I consider a lot of his material dance music), and even some Spice Girls (daring, aren't I ?)
Sometimes the best Website is not an official one, or a record company one, or a fan club one, but one or more put together by individual fans. Here are a couple good Paula pages:
