Glassjaw - "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence" (2000)

Y las que más definen a glassjaw son: "Siberian Kiss", "Lovebites And Razorlines", "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence" y "Motel Of The White Locust".

"Vocals are utterly naked, soaked with fear, love and hate they shower the songs dense textures with compelling vibrant emotion that can crush the listener with a tidal wave of torrid enthusiasm. Frontman Daryl's vocals are without question some of the purest oral expressions ever captured on an album. Starkly beautiful, moving and tumultuous with genuine rage and hurt, its close to impossible for the listener to escape feeling his words convulse within their soul on a spiritual level." - [theprp.com]

"Daryl who orchestrated the band is the lead singer. His voice is just simply good. No other way to put it. One second he sounds very similar to Chino Moreno of the Deftones, but the difference between the two bands is the emotion going to both ends of the spectrum from Glassjaw." - [megakungfu.com]

"Glassjaw's singer has been diagnosed with the incredibly serious Crone's Disease, and at only 20 years old his health will undoubtedly be a source of serious concern for everyone involved. But it seems that the producer Ross Robinson told Daryl to use this pain and suffering to express his lyrics within his voice and screams." - [fang magazine]

"Singer Darryl Palumbo has been gifted with an extraordinary voice using a vast vocal range to devastating effect while every other instrument complements one an other to make this a simply amazing listen." - [meltdown magazine]

"Vocalist Daryl Palumbo exhibits something that very few singers today have; raw, heartfelt, emotion. The true essence of emo-core. On these twelve songs Palumbo pours out his innermost feelings through poetic lyrics expressing his anger, hate, love, pain, desire, and loneliness experienced through life, all of which will sweep the listener along to places they have never before been, awakening that which they tried so hard to keep hidden. It is this unbridled release of emotions that truly make this music so special." - [underground palace]

LOS SENTIMIENTOS:

"For a listener to truly relate to music there has to be some kind of connection. Whether the music relates to a point in the listeners life or has lyrics that they can identify with, there is always some kind of connection." - [shoutweb.com]

"The band's honesty really shines through as they don't try to hide behind guttural screams that try to sound angry, instead it's almost as if this band has stuck a faucet into their souls and let the contents within pour out unfiltered onto the cellophane that makes up this disc. A true innocence and precarious fury are highlights of the bands music and they indeed go a long way in fortifying the almost naive quality the music possesses." - [theprp.com]

"Everything You Wanted To Know About Silence is as riveting and personal a record as you could ask for. One where beauty turns to disgust; where melodies turn molten; where brutal honesty transforms into an emotional frenzy." - [wicked]

"Imagine taking every possible human emotion, multiply it eight times, and Glassjaw would be the soundtrack to this week's episode in the day and the life of humanity. There is no gimmick; it's just emotional music to stir something within you... get ready for a whirlwind of emotions." - [megakungfu.com]

"Musically, a striking mix of YOUTH OF TODAY styled hardcore, metallic riffing and RADIOHEAD styled sonic flourishes. Lyrically, as gut wrenchingly honest and serious as possible." - [fang magazine]

"Never before has silence been so loud, has anger been so sedating or have feelings been expressed so simply, yet so complexly, Glassjaw have created something that reaches far beyond the confines of the classifications of music, this is an unrestrained form of cathartic art that cleanses any who listen, take note, for this is everything you ever wanted to know and hear about music in its unaltered form." - [theprp.com]

EL DISCO EN SÍ:

"Never before have I been so moved by a cd. Glassjaw's "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence" is an epic journey into the depths of a human's innermost feelings. It will leave you reeling from an emotional rollercoaster of that through which we experience in life." - [shoutweb.com]

"This album has everything - Anger, intensity, passion, heart and power." - [meltdown magazine]

"Definitely the best and most honest thing i've heard in the past years." - [fang magazine]

"I can honestly say that this is a great CD. The lyrics are thought provoking, and have meaning. The emotion that Daryl puts into each second of the CD is a work of art, and should be recognized. This is music, about the music, nothing more. Their appearance is normal, no make up, nothing to set them apart." - [megakungfu.com]

"This is possibly the best debut album I have ever heard. It is definitely the most complete, taking influence from practically every style going to create an extremely compulsive cocktail. " - [tmt.com]

"Glassjaw is undeniably one of the must have releases of the new millennium, without any shadow of a doubt this band shatters all expectations as they barrel through the disc's 13 tracks with a runaway truckload of potent emotion. Hard to compare to other acts, this band takes a dash of hardcore, a slice of emo and a splash of nu metal, and ends up creating some of the most passionately pure music ever to be put on CD, reminding of releases from acts such as the Deftones or Far. " - [theprp.com]

"Glassjaw's Everything You Wanted To Know About Silence is one of the most honest and emotional albums I've ever heard. "This record is basically a modern take on love," the frontman explains. "You can write a record that's an anti-relationship record or a broken heart record or a revenge record. Fact is, I'm in plain English saying what's on my mind as bluntly as possible. Sorry, real life isn't politically correct. This is how I feel in my heart and my guts. If you say you can't relate to this, then you haven't had your heart broken." One word: AMAZING!" - [wicked]

"12 amazing as all hell songs on here. Im telling you, this one serioulsy has the making to be the best release of the year. Every song is different from the next, you decide if thats good or not. There's even a song thats pretty dam emo-ish (the title track), and you can tell its a truly heart felt song. Even if one of these songs ends up on MTV (I doubt it), fuck the boycott of mainstream shit and buy this, its worth it." - [frigid ember]

"This cd is not for the public. I doubt it will get much airplay or ever become a staple on MTV, then again I believe that is what is best for this band. Glassjaw creates music that is honest, brutal, and ever so REAL. They do not deserve to have their music corrupted by the idiotic masses. So if you think you can handle music that is REAL, then definitely obtain this cd." - [shoutweb.com]
