"The Dream"

Yesterday, my dreams were of heaven.
My dreams were of peace and serenity.
Yesterday, as with many days,
My dreams were about love.

I walked in a world of quiet rapture,
A world free from worry and fear.
I walked through this world,
Holding her hand.

She was a beautiful as a full moon,
Her darkened hair, the silk of the night.
She was a wonder to behold,
And she was the world to my soul.

Her voice carries me through the dream,
So soft and full of wonder.
Her voice lifts my spirits
And guides me when I am lost at sea.

Eyes that sparkle and shine,
Brighter than the stars above.
Eyes that entrance my very existance
And hold me with a gentle grasp.

A body that would make envious
Even the one known as Hera.
A body that makes me chase her,
And bids my heart to swoon.

This dream lasted for a while,
And I walked hand in hand with her.
This dream made my heart beat,
At the thought it might come true.

But alas, last night I awoke,
Cold and alone, inside a blanket.
But alas I looked around,
And my dream was gone.

Is it the fortunes of fate,
That give us but a glimps into what might be?
Is it the tides of time,
That may one day, bring her closer to me?

With a heavy saddness, I traveled the night,
And worried my friends, who had heed of my fright.
With a heavy heart, I try to dream again,
Knowning my friends are here to let me in.

Do not think bad of this dream,
You who reads these words.
Do not think that I will never dream again,
For each day is brand new, and I may.

Is it the fortunes of fate,
That give us but a glimps into what might be?
Is it the tides of time,
That may one day, bring her closer to me?

For now, I will just wish, that I may,
In the words of the Bard: "sleep, perchance to dream."
For now, I will live my life I have,
And search for the day, that one night,
I may have my dream again.
