"Joy Of Shopping"

.

Oh how wonderful,
To gaze in to the shops.
Walking up and down the street,
Smiling at everyone you meet.

To spend hours and hours
In this store and that store,
Just looking around,
At all the neat junk you've found.

The time seems to fly by
As you buy another item.
All your cares disappear,
Even when someone needs you near.

The useless plastic you buy,
The wasteful products you get,
The junk food on which you feed,
Even when a friend is in need.

Oh, but don't get me wrong.
There is nothing more soothing,
Nothing more relaxing than retail,
Nothing like wasting time on a sale.

What a wonderful life it must be,
To go shopping the whole day long;
But when you have a friend in need,
The pull of shopping can be strong.

Also, it's Seattle, a perfect place.
But to me, when friends are in need,
It's nothing more than a location,
But who cares when you're on vacation.

I called when I saw the blood
Of an animal I thought wouldn't live.
My heart cried out in dispair,
At the attention I couldn't give.

I called for both of you,
And one said you'd be on your way,
So I sat scared and hurt,
As you went shopping all day.
