You dance for someone else,
But have captured my soul.
Hidden from the world
In a desert palace.
Your dance has ensared me
In ways no one can know.
Encased in armor, I watch,
No one can see my eyes.
Secretly wishing I could say
That you have won me over.
But each minute I spend without you,
Another piece of me dies.
I stand silently without moving,
In and around the crowd.
They watch you dance for them
But I watch you dance for me.
And as you finish, I walk over to you,
The sound of my heart pounding loud.
The music slowly dies away
And you are left standing there.
I wait until that one moment
When everyone is looking away.
I caress your chin with my glove,
Secretly showing you I care.
Someone who is not here for either of us
Enters and threatens the peace of the room.
I quickly respond to protect the palace
And take aim to defeat the intruder.
But they have found a better offer,
Not knowing my protection was truely for you.
I protect and serve,
But always at a price.
This time it's different,
Something with me isn't right.
I'd protect you because I care,
I'd defend you with my life.
