Ada (1996):

Probably due to her thirst for joining our Christmas Carolling and masses, Ada joined the choir on Dec 8, 1996. Though she has a lot of good memories from the GNS, she has an experience as scary as the sinking Titanic: "Most people, except her and Cee, did not show up for the New Year Mass 1998 until 9:00am when the mass was about to start. Even worse, no guitar was there until the very last minutes when Ben showed up. At last, the mass was sung by only 6 GNS members." Well...Ada, with such an experience, you should have learned that contingency plan should always be handy plus quality is always more important than quantity! 6 may not be a bad number if everyone sings with his/her heart. I think the GNS has shown you these.

Ada likes the songs Doxology with the great Amen, Be not Afraid, How can I keep from singing and All I ask of you the most. (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Amanda (1998):

Amanda is a Form six student at Maryknoll Convent School. She likes the songs And I will follow, For we are free and Song of the wounded. The enthusiasm we show at rehearsals, all the happy faces our fellow members wear and well....the delicious food and the funful games played during boat trips are all the good memories Amanda has with the GNS.

The message Amanda wants to bring us via the internet: "I'm happy to be part of the GNS. All the members are nice and friendly. I really enjoy myself singing with the choir all Sundays. I strongly believe that we can fulfil our goal to spread the Goodnews to everyone." (info current as of 12/12/1998)

Amy (1993):

Amy left the GoodNewSingers in the summer of 1997. Her most memorable experience was her first time to sing at a Holy Thursday mass. Since then, Easter hymns would always make her want to weep. Her favorite songs are: Wood Hath Hope, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Andrew (1991):

Claiming that he never left the choir and is just being "semi-retired", Andrew would like to see the annual retreat held in 1993 at Cheung Chau coming alive again. Out of all the hymns, Andrew likes Walk with faith, Song of the wounded, and City of God the most. (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Anita (1988):

Anita left the GoodNewSingers in 1989 for studies in the U.K. Now that she is back in Hong Kong, working becomes a very important part of her life. When asked about her memorable experiences, she thinks it is the trip to the U.S. and Canada in 1990 with a group of choir members. Her favorite song is Mary's Song. (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Anthony Yin Leung Chan (1998):

Anthony is very proud to be one of the GNS members. He is the viola player in choir. In order to play the instrument well, Anthony thinks we shall play without limiting ourselves and play whatever we like. Anthony's favourite song is Walk with faith. (info current as of 12/12/1998)

Athena (1995):

Impressed most of us with her all-leather outfit, Athena is used to be the conductor and organist of St. Teresa's Parish Choir. After meeting up with Marky and Elinda, Athena was attracted by our music and style. During a period of time, she practised with both of our choir and the Parish Choir and we really appreciate the time she spends with us. To take a choice, Athena finally quitted the Parish choir and now sings with us on Sundays. Her favourite song is Wherever you go. (info current as of 12/11/1998)

Becky (1992):

Becky is a graduate from St. Mary's College in HK and University of Calgary in Canada. She joined the choir in September 1992 when she heard the recessional hymn Blest Be the Lord. She felt so "at-home" that she decided to ask if we were recruiting. We always give everyone a chance to try out, and this try-out lasted for years, and hopefully for more years to come.

Her most memorable experiences would be her first time carolling in 1992, her first retreat in 1994 at Cheung Chau and the candle light prayer, and her favorite songs are: Magi, Mary's song, Walk with faith, Be not afraid, Listen.... (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Belinda (1988):

Benjamin (1987):

Ben recalled that he joined the GNS in the summer of 1987. Ben, this is a good timing for you can show off the "GNS uniform" i.e. short-sleeved polo shirt and boat shoes - top-sider or Timberland, with or without socks and don't forget the checked shorts.

Still having strong emotional attachment with the GNS, Ben quoted his most memorable experience as "thinking about choir members alone in a church in the UK". His favourite songs include In love for me and Wherever you go. Currently, Ben is an investigating officer in the Hong Kong ICAC. Oh Ben, is your identity supposed to be classified?

Here is a little piece of advice from Ben: "Life" is....so grab it while you can. (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Bibiana (1984):

Bibiana immigrated to the States with family, and thus left the GNS reluctantly, in July 1986. When asked who invited her to join the choir, Bibi could only remember that person as somebody from MCS who has short hair, wore braces and glasses. If you're the one who invited Bibi to join the choir, please identify yourself even though you may wear waterfall-like long hair, show your white teeth confidently and wear contact lenses now.

What the choir attracted Bibi the most were the Christmas carolling and the infinite happy faces it radiated. Certainly, the carolling experience in 84 and the two years of services with all GNS, most notably her best friend Vivian Chao (Fung), lived way beyond Bibi's expectation.

Bibi is now happily married and residing in Tempe, Arizona with lovely hubby Al and a very cute doggie named Chewie. Her favourite songs include For I shall see you again and Be not afraid. She named Christmas carolling as her most memorable experience. It was special because Bibi had a chance to perform on the streets and on ferries. (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Brian Yau (1997):

A keen learner, Brian always likes to diversified his knowledge in musical instruments. Currently, he is learning guitar with Henry Leung and he also shows interest in flute and viola. Seen as a shy La Salle boy in most people's eyes, Brian is always proud to be a GNS member. He picked Christmas carolling 97 as his most memorable experience with the GNS. "The most exciting day was 22nd Dec. which was the first time I stood on the street and sang. All passerbys had their eyes fixed on us and I felt like a singer on stage."

Brian likes the songs Lord of glory, Listen and Song of the wounded. (info current as of 12/12/1998)

 Cat (1981):

Cat (or commonly known as Cat-Tse) left the choir when she left HK in August 1990. She is now living happily in California, US, with her husband and three children. She is responsible for putting this webpage together. I guess we should all give Cat-Tse a pat on the back (through cyberspace). There are lots of things she remembers about the choir -- all the fun rehearsals, X'mas & Easter masses (and losing her voice after these masses every single year she was in the choir), and a miniature GoodNewSingers group (which consists of Jo, Joseph, Fat-B and Judith) singing beautifully at her wedding in California. Her favorite songs are Song of the Wounded, Be Not Afraid, Wood Hath Hope... (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Standing ovation to our webmaster or better known as webhoney for her excellent job here!

Cecilia Tse (Singzone)(1987):

She said she was never a member though she once joined our GoodNewSinging in one of the easter masses and some of the rehearsals - that's it girl, you're in. She started hanging out with the GoodNewSingers in summer of 1987 and the last time was June 4, 1989 - the day Jo left HK. She is in Toronto, Canada now working as an analyst with a reverse mortgage company.

Her most memorable experiences are:

"1. Taking pictures on the MCS front lawn with Jo, Vivian, Fat-B and Tucker etc. You just feel as if you're a super model!

2. Seeing Fat-B putting on Vivian's headband and his making of grimaces - Fat B really has very elastic facial muscles. Unbelievable!

3. Doing crazy things (original wording 'c-m-g' edited due to content) at Jo's home and Caritas' canteen. Can you imagine how much energy we spent on just laughing? It's some good workout for your abdomen.

4. Reading the papers on June 4th massacre on the floor of the HK Airport when we saw Jo off to San Francisco. Well, GNS also care about the world.

5. X'mas Carolling near Ocean Terminal. Guarantee! You would feel like a superstar having a world-tour concert enjoyed by millions of audiences.

6. At our launching activity, Anita sat on a water-melon as if she was hatching a big dino-egg - what a mom!

7. In the same event, our generous Tucker gave his eye-glasses to Miss mermaid - stupid him didn't take off his glasses before jumping into the sea!"

8. This is the most updated one: I am impressed by the effort given by some old members to pull together this website. Look! 70plus members have been hunted down here and our guestbook must be the busiest one at geocities. As for my involvement, it's THE phone call jo gave me last year - "WHAT? a GNS website?!! Can I see all of the old faces again? Woo ha ha ha... Will I be part of it? Really?? Oh yea, cheung-fun lady will be there too?! All of our songs?? ......" That was my reaction..... I merely couldn't keep my mouth shut!

Favorite Songs: "Everything in the hymnal....Wherever you go, Walk with Faith.......Woa, all those Christmas carols. So long as it's a GoodNewSingers' product, it means QUALITY!" (info current as of 12/15/1999)

Christine (1981):

Christine left Hong Kong for the States in 1983. Now she is in her second year of surgery residency in Philadelphia. To describe life as a doctor, she said, "I'm chronically sleep deprived being tortured in a malignant surgical residency program in philly. Nothing flashy about my life!" Yet, for those who know Christine, we all know she is always a kind-hearted and gentle lady who would serve her patients with her best ability. Christine, carry on with the GNS spirit - hang in there, be cool and be happy.

One of her memorable times is rehearsal at covered playground of MCS with pre-hearsal tummy warming up at St Teresa's Church cafeteria. Her most liked songs are Be not afraid and the new version of Our Father

While Christine is practising in Philadelphia now, she plans to move back to San Francisco with her family one day. (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Cynthia left HK for studies and came back and went to mass on and off. She considers it a little 'vacation' or maybe a 'pilgrimage'. Her most memorable experience is the Farewell Concert. "Everybody cried their heads off. It was a really touching experience." Her favorite songs are Be Not Afraid, Wherever You Go, Our Father (the blues version and the slow version).

Her message to everyone: "Subscribe to Hutchison Telecom mobile service and enjoy great savings on special tariff plans! We have the most wonderful network and value-added services there are (under my very own supervision, ahem) and you will never want to do business with another company again! I will guarantee you a lucky number, cutie. Just buzz me at my email address and let's talk! (info current as of 4/15/1998)

Daniel knew of the GoodNewSingers in 1989 when he was an altar boy at the St. Teresa's Church. After 7 years, (are you sure, Daniel?), he couldn't stand it anymore, and decided to join us during Easter of 1996. Although he left the choir in September 1997, he still thinks we are the best choir in the church. His favorite songs are In Love For Me and Dwelling Place. (info current as of 4/15/1998)
