Sir Paul McCartney is to exhibit his own paintings for what is thought to be the first time - in a little known town in Germany. The former Beatle was persuaded to show 70 of his paintings at the Kunstforum Lyz gallery in Siegen, near Cologne, when the town's cultural organiser showed more interest in the art than the artist. Sir Paul had reportedly turned down other dealers, who seemed interested only in using his name as a selling point for an exhibition. The gallery is delighted with its scoop, describing Sir Paul's work as "fascinating". A sample of Sir Paul's painting, titled "John's Room", is seen at left.
