Yoko Ono has stopped a British artist from using portraits of John Lennon to raise money for the Beatle's old school.
Ono's New York lawyers sent Joanne Shaw, 26, a letter ordering her not to sell the pictures because Lennon's widow has executive rights to Lennon's image.
Ms Shaw sent two drawings to Dovedale County School, where Lennon attended primary, when told it was trying to raise money for repairs. Dovedale sent one to Ono as thanks for a donation and put the other on display.
Soon after, Ms Shaw received a letter from Ono's lawyer saying: "Because of exclusive arrangements Miss Ono has with others about using Mr Lennon's likeness in merchandising areas, she would not be in a position to grant you the right to utilise your print for fundraising purposes."
Ms Shaw said: "She has gone over the top."
