Neighbours plan to erect a memorial to George Harrison near the late Beatle's holiday house on Queensland's Hamilton Island.
The 58-year-old former lead guitarist, who died of cancer in Los Angeles, on Thursday, last stayed in the palatial island villa on Let's Be Avenue in March, 1999.
Island residents have started preparation to mark Harrison's connection to the island with a memorial near the Meditarean style home.
A close friend said Harrison kept a low profile during visits to the island, which was a retreat from his hectic lifestyle in Los Angeles.
"He was very quiet and easy going," the friend of 11 years said.
