A Hard Day's Night
From the peak days of Beatlemania, A Hard Day's Night allots its first half to the movie soundtrack and the second to six more Lennon-McCartney numbers - their first completely self-sufficient set. "Can't Buy Me Love", "You Can't Do That" and "Things We Said Today" are just about immortal. One or two tracks sound routine, for the cheerful beat and chiming harmony, chopped with acoustic chords, were assembling themselves into a formula by now. But it was a delicious formula. The years have robbed nothing of its freshness, nor its infectious delight.
I Should Have Known Better
If I Fell
I'm Happy Just To Dance With You
And I Love Her
Tell Me Why
Can't Buy Me Love
Any Time At All
I'll Cry Instead
Things We Said Today
When I Get Home
You Can't Do That
I'll Be Back
