BLUE JAY WAY (Harrison) 1967 "Blue Jay Way" was the name of a street in Los Angeles where George and Patti had rented a house during the summer. George wrote the track while he waited for his friend, journalist and former Beatles press officer Derek Taylor, to arrive from London. Taylor was delayed, but no wanting to go to bed until his arrival, George wrote the song to keep himself awake. George plays all the instruments except a cello. Paul joined him for the backing vocals. The track features, among other technological devices, an early appearance of the automatic double tracking (ADT) machine devised by Abbey Road's Ken Townshend.
