Thoughout Alex's life he has enjoyed taking part in many different sports. From the age of 5 Alex took part in junior football and hockey. He moved in and out of each sport each season until taking up
Cycling at the age of 13. For 2 years Alex was a member of the Blue Lake cycling club until ditching cycling to keep playing country football
for the Naracoorte Demons U17. From there Alex went on to play Reserves and A grade
until moving to Adelaide for University where he played Football for Kilburn and took out the best and fairest award in the Reserves as well as a handful of games for Adelaide Uni's cricket team. Alex sucessfully captained
the Lincoln college cricket team to premiership victory over St Annes college in 2004. In 2005 Alex continued to play reserves football for Kilburn and being a fringe player in the senior side however too much beer and low fitness
was preventing him from staying in the side. 2006 was a rest year for Alex, only playing a handful of games and no cricket whatsoever whilst travelling to Melbourne more often to visit his brother
Tim. At the end of 2006 Alex decided he wanted to give football a red hot crack and trained heavily with the SANFL Club Port Adelaide. After many months of strenuous
training and many pre season games, the coach Tim Ginever and assistant coach Brian Leys told him he wasnt fit enough and they couldnt fit him in the squad.
That evening Alex was rang by Mark Baylis, the operations manager at Gaza, after learning of Gaza's dominance in A1 football Alex signed on with the club under coach Darren Mead
Education
Alex started school at the Naracoorte North Primary school at the end of 1989 when he turned 5. However because he only attended 1 term in 89 he had to repeat reception in 1990.
Alex finished his primary school certificate in 1997 at Naracoorte Primary School where he continued to Secondary education at the Naracoorte High School. Alex finished his SACE certificate
in 2002 after completing Pes Accounting, Geography, Maths, English and Hospitality. In 2003 Alex had a gap year where he worked at a fertilizer depot in Naracoorte before moving to Alice Springs for the latter half
of the year. Alex was accepted by the Adelaide university to study the Bachelor of Wine marketing where he will finish in 2007.
Ambitions
After completing his degree in food and beverage marketing at the University of Adelaide, Alex has many life ambitions that he wished to fulfill. The main ambition directly after uni is to travel to various parts of South America
before coming back to Australia to aquire a fultime job within the wine industry. That is the general plan that is certainly subject to change.
