Aberdeen was the first show of the tour & the first show for us as well..........
Picture house supported Meat on the tour & this was the first time we had seen them. We weren't dissapointed either. I usually hate support bands but these were an exception...... They are a very talented band & well worth seeing...
This was a great show !!! The first of many from the front row... All the band were on great form..... Although maybe a little bit more nervous than the shows to come...
The show starts with the illusion of something going wrong technically. So as not to spoil the show for those who have yet to see it I wont go into to much detail.
Meat finally came on stage to a huge applause & cheers then sat on a big rock cluster !!
He then began singing "No matter what" with a backdrop behind him ~ which unfortunately you cant take pix of... but it is really impressive...The band play behind the backdrop throughout "No matter what" out of view. After "No matter what" They go into the intro of:
"Life is a lemon" (with the backdrop still there ) This is one of my fav parts of the show..... You can see the sillhouettes of the band playing through the backdrop, It was soooo agonising waiting for the curtain to drop........ They do the same intro that they done at Comic releif with the excellent drums from most of the band. Even Damon has a stick to bang against his guitar... The audience were all clapping & cheering...... Eventually they drop the curtain & you get to see the rest of the band ~ Patti really gets into this bit !! as do all the rest of the band!!! Something definitely worth seeing......
Heres some pix taken during "Life is a lemon"
"Dead ringer" is next with a great start to it too.... Ray goes over to Damon & Kas, followed by Meat. They then all walk over playing their guitars to the girls on the other side of the stage.......
While on the other side of the stage is Patti, Pearl & Drey..... All doing the who's he looking at routine.....
Finally they figure its Patti.......
Patti then walks over to Meat & the rest is history........
"I'd lie for you" starts with Ray playing guitar followed by Tom on Keyboards..... Theres also a great guitar solo from Damon as well where he comes right to the front of the stage.......
"I'd do anything for love" Tom comes down to the piano in front of John & plays the intro.....
"Lawyers guns & money" is one of my fav songs of the show.... Meat plays guitar along with Kas, Ray & Damon on this great version of a song by Warren Zevon. All the band seem to really enjoy playing this!!!!
"Rock & roll dreams" starts with Ray playing keyboards & the ending has him playing a great guitar piece. Kas also goes up to play by the drums along side John.....
"Is nothing sacred" starts with Ray playing excellently in the spotlight, followed by ~ Tom in the spotlight on the piano & John on drums ~ Patti then comes on stage looking stunning (as usual) in a long dress. ( the same one she wore on Noels house party) The performance of this is very powerful, with loads of dry ice....
"Paradise" starts with Tom on piano ~ Meat comes over & plays with him....
A metallic curtain drops, with Meat in front of it. Kas & Damon then walk over looking at it along with Meat. The band then play the intro while Meat goes behind the curtain. He then re appears wearing a suit...... He sings the first verse of paradise then Patti comes from behind the curtain wearing a wedding dress singing her bit!!!!
I wont go into detail on the rest of Paradise so as not to spoil it for those who haven't seen the show.
After Paradise the band take a bow...
With Meat saying "Thank you all very very much etc... & remember don't you ever stop rockin" They then all leave the stage (to a round of applause) apart from Meat who stays on stage ready for the accoustic set....
