Originally from Yorkshire, where they were known as The Blue Blood Group, the Accent moved to London in 1966 and recorded a heavily psychedelic 45 the following year having secured a residency at former champion boxer Billy Walker's Upper Cut Club.

Rick Birkett later released a solo album on Blue Horizon under the name Rick Hayward and also featured in a later line-up of The Zombies and in Jellybread.
