I woke up the next morning groggy and sleepy-eyed; only the dull throbbing of the sore in my back kept me awake. For a moment I couldn't remember where I was, but the sight of the surrounding hotel room knocked back my senses. "OMYGOD!" I screamed inside my head, "I kissed Paul McCartney!" And George Harrison, for that matter. I heard voices in the next room over, and immediately distinguished them as John's and Paul's. John was saying something in a voice that sounded like he was whining, trying to get someone to see it his way. "She's only seventeen, man!" Paul's reply was a laugh, and then something under muttered breath. I crept up to the door and placed my ear against it. Silence. Confused, I leaned closer, and suddenly it flew open. I landed ungracefully on John's chest. "Hi, there, luv. Did ya get 'nuf beauty sleep, then?" "Uh...yeah," I said, trying to seem nonchalant. John pretended to look surprised. "Well, then, it seems as if there're two of you, because our Paulie did as well! Not that you'd notice...not that you're interested in him..." I was blushing furiously and Paul was trying to strangle John when George walked in. "Heya, me darlin'," he said brightly, "you rose and shone, hm?" "Well, someone's perky," I said to him, "what'd you have for breakfast? Sugar?" Paul stifled a laugh. "Not exactly...." Not I was really confused. "Well, what then?" George giggled like a little boy on Christmas. "Never you mind!" He cackled slyly, and plopped down on the couch to watch television. "Ahhhh...innocence. I had that once," said John in mock sadness. "Didya, then?" Paul questioned him with a smile, "I don't really remember that time." "Me either!" Commented George with his wide, lop-sided grin. *"Oh, come off it!" John said, trying to keep his face straight, "you're all jealous of me since I'm more lovable!" George whapped him one with a pillow. "You were never lovable!" "Was so!" "Was not!" chorused George and Paul. "Was so!" "WAS NOT!" "WAS SO! Watch this!" John picked up an imaginary guitar and strummed it energetically, head bobbing. We all started cracking up. "YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, YEAAAAAHHH! WOOOOOOOO!O" He shook his head vigorously for the climax. But we all lost it when he stopped and looked straight at me, serious again, as if the Beatle had been switched off along with the guitar. "That was lovable, wasn't it, Penny?" I responded with a typical fan's reaction: "John, John, oh John, I love you!!!" and toppled over John across the couch. George and Paul were laughing hysterically as Neil rushed in, followed by Mal Evans and two hotel security officers. When they recognized our game, Neil's worried face turned into an angry one, and he waved a batch of cards in front of Paul's face. "BEST set I had all week!" he growled, and stomped out the door. Mal, looking apologetic, followed. Meanwhile on the couch, I found myself in an extremely uncomfortable position, spread-eagled over John's body. His laughing eyes pried into mine, and my only retort was pathetic...I had used it earlier for Paul. "You are impossible." I glared at him, and he hugged me. "Nah, I like it this way." He wouldn't let me get up. "Asshole, let go!" "Nope." "Pa-aullll!" I pleaded. Paul stifled another laugh. "Sorry, luv, you're on your own." "Okay, what does it take?" I finally asked John. He pretended to think the matter over extensively before replying. "Well..." he began craftily. "Forget it," I cut him off, laughing myself. "One more kiss." "Fine." I moved my lips to his cheek, but he stopped me with a finger. "Nu-uh-uh!" he said chidingly, "Paul's got his, so did George..." "Oh, piss off!" I cried out at him, giggling, and started to pull myself up, but John had surprisingly strong arms and held me down. "ARRRGH!" John was so surprised by my outburst that his arms dropped for a moment, and I took that opportunity to jump up and run. In fact, I ran straight back into my hotel room, hearing the sounds of hysterics behind. "I'll get you for that, Lennon!" I called out from behind the locked door. "Yeah? Well, until that day..." Grrr. Sweet revenge was on the horizon.
