Much more subdued, we went back into the hotel room, and we all sat down on the various couches and chairs placed strategically around the room. After only a few seconds, though, Paul jumped up, eyes snapping.
“That’s it! I can’t take it any more! I’m off!” He grabbed his coat from beside him, and plopped a hat over his head. He stuck a nearby moustache over his lips. “Come ‘ed Penny, want to come along?”
“Of course!” I said, grabbing my purse.
Ringo and George looked at each other.
“Only for a little bit.” Said Ringo to George.
“We won’t get mobbed,” said George to Ringo.
“Okay, we’re coming too!” Said Ringo, and the two of them leaped up. Paul scribbled down an apologetic message for Neil for leaving without permission. With a few more steps, the door was open and we were finally free.

Walking down the streets of Boston, in the open air, the spirits of Paul, George and Ringo seemed to have lifted considerably. They persisted in cracking dozens of jokes, so many that by the time that we finally decided to take a break I was exhausted from laughing, and my side was sore. While George and Ringo went off to get hot dogs in the park, Paul and I sat down on a bench. I still could not look him in the eye without reddening.
“Penny?” He asked me, looking at my eyes while I did not look at his.
“Hmm?”
“Penny, are you mad at me?”
“Good grief Paul, why on earth would I be mad at you?” I found myself so surprised that I forgot my embarrassment and looked at him straight with eye contact.
“I don’t know…I went awfully fast back there, and I…didn’t mean to….” He looked down at his hands and clasped them together.
“Paul, I’m not mad at you. I would never be mad at you.” He laughed softly.
“Ah, luv, things aren’t always that lovely, there are things that I could do, and have done, that would make you hate me for life.”
“But it’s like that with everyone, Paul! Nobody’s perfect.”
“Me mum was. She was perfect. I loved her.”
“I’m sure you did,” I said quietly, uncomfortably trying to ease the obvious sorrow that had settled upon him along with thoughts of his mother Mary. “But Paul, you shouldn’t try to be because she was. You’re a beautiful guy, Paul, and I love you no matter what you do.” Paul’s head snapped up again, and he stared at me, with hungry eyes. “So there,” I finished up, “and don’t you ever forget it!” Paul smiled, and ran a hand through my hair.
“Penny….” He said huskily, leaning forward, “Penny, Penny….” His murmur was lost to the world when his lips connected with mine. I leaned forward, and pushed harder into the kiss. Paul’s eyes closed and he started to tip over me on the bench. He stroked my cheek with one finger, and lightly opened my lips with his, so he could enter me with his tongue and satisfy his, and my own, hunger. He breathed in deeply, relishing the taste of my mouth, and I exhaled, relishing the feel of his, so warm and sweet-tasting. He licked hungrily at the top of my mouth, and his hand pressed onto the nape of my neck, bringing me closer to him and allowing him to nestle his hips snugly on top of mine. I felt the burning excitement between his legs throbbing on top of me, and I moaned hungrily. But it was the wrong place to do this, and definitely in the wrong time. I tore myself away from him and sat back.
“Paul…Paul, not now,” I whispered into his ear, scraping my chin on his fake moustache as I did so. “Not now, Paul, not while George and Ringo are here…” Paul backed up and grinned at me ruefully.
“What is it about you that drives me crazy, Penny?” He asked me, “what is it?”
“I don’t know, Paul,” I said truthfully, “I’m no beauty, that’s for sure.”
“Oh, but you are…” He interrupted me softly. I looked into his dark brown eyes, and found myself bending over to him again, but as I was, George came up next to me.
“Watcha doin’, Penny?” He asked me innocently.
“Oh, I…I…I thought that my contact lens fell out.” I rubbed my eye. “Nope, still there.” George looked perplexed, but seemed to forget about the whole matter.
“Well, Ringo and I are gonna go for a walk now so I’ll see ya two lovebirds later, ’all right?” I blushed, but Paul just laughed.
“Sure Georgie.” George grinned and he turned away and walked off, meeting Ringo some feet ahead. Smiling, I shook my head and turned to my left to face Paul again…but in doing so, I caught quite a fascinating sight: Yvonne and John, no more than twenty yards away…in the middle of a very passionate kiss. Her arms were around his neck, his arms were wrapped around her waist and continuing on downwards.
Paul hadn’t noticed yet, but for some reason I thought that it was better to not tell him. John and Yve moved off a few moments later, in the opposite direction, leaving me once again alone with Paul, to ponder over what I had seen.
