Mandatory Licenses
According to the state of Florida, the state mandates establishments to own
either an SRX or 4COP liquor license.
The 4COP license prices, vary from county to county.
The SRX license is the most common and accessible of the two to obtain.
SRX does prohibit smoking within the facility.
The venue must seat a minimum of 200 patrons.
Licenses are issued in a lottery type system, where the state of Florida holds
annually based on the number of new residents in any given county.
More Mandatory Licenses
SRX licenses also require establishment owners to offer an extensive food and
beverage menu to its customers.
Finally, in order to obtain an SRX, the state requires that 51% of the edible
items offered must be food-based (comprised of 8 to 10 entries), while 49% of
the menu must consist of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages.
Music Licenses
Bar ownership requires membership of both BMI and ASCAP organizations.
Payment of $1,600 per year to each organization.
