Rocky & His Friends
1969

During the four months before I entered the military, and while I was still a Grape, I also played drums with Rocky & His Friends. This funky little quartet worked weekends in a dive bar near Glendale College. I was a substitute for their regular drummer who was serving time in the National Guard. I can't remember the names of the other players. I do remember playing a great version of the Grassroots song "Live For Today" and enjoying the gig a lot, probably because I was playing drums and not organ or bass. This band wasn't recorded, and as far as I know, no photos of us exist.
