Mike & John as Two Of Us

When I left the Larry Richards Group, that also left Mike Halperin without a job. For about 2 months we worked together at the Scottsdale Holiday Inn as Two Of Us, Mike on piano, organ, trumpet and vocals and me on bass, guitar, drums and vocals. Think about that . . . all those instruments, and just Mike and me. I played drums with my feet, and everything else with my hands! Mike played trumpet with one hand and keyboards with the other! It felt more like a circus act, but it was a job. It was at this gig that I received my largest tip ever, $100 for an original song, which I performed alone on the piano.

Mike and I recorded an album together of jazz standards. After that, I lost touch with him. A new and refreshing chapter was about to begin.
