The Dave Matthews Band played one hell of a fuckin'
show last thursday at Great Woods!!! From the beginning
of the opening band's, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, to
the intense, no stop 2 and a half hour set played by
the Dave Matthews Band. The band opened with a sweet Two
Step, followed by the Song That Jane Likes. Then the
fellas went absolutely nuts with a killer Jimi Thing,
Boyd just took over with his violin on that tune!!!
They didn't stop there keepin' the groove goin' with a
rockin' Tripping Billies. That was just the beginning...
when Bela Fleck was invited to jam up on stage with the
band, for Crash Into Me, a fantastic Typical Situation,
and a bad ass Minarets soon followed. One unrealeased
song that was played was True Reflections with Boyd
tossin' some lyrics at the crowd. Speakin' of the
19,900 Daveheads who were onhand. From the first strum
of the guitar and pickin' of the violin on Two Step that
was played was until the concert ending Ants Marching the
crowd was into it and never stopped cheerin'. The crowd
reception of the band was unbelievable! Some other songs
that were played in the set were #41, Say Goodbye, Warehouse,
So Much To Say, and Too Much, which started off with a
phat little jam, where Stefan was just goin' off on his
bass guitar. Just to mention Carter and Leroi were pretty
impressive as well and Dave's voice was in full effect!
To end this little review, the band also played their new
song as one of the two encores. Overall we rate this
concert as one of the greatest we've ever heard, EVER!!!
the show was great. it was the first time that i saw
dave and it was the best show that i have ever been to
even that i just went to the u2 popmart tour and this
show still blows u2 away. dave did awsome versions
of two step, crash, typical situations, and ants. one thing
is for sure that the next time he comes around that ill
be there.

My favorite thing about summer is all my favorite bands hitting the road
and playing outside all over the country. So I was very excited driving up
to Great Woods for Dave's two night stand. I would have liked the lot scene
to have been a little more mellow, but that's cool. The music for the two
nights was great. Especially enjoyed Bela Fleck's playing on Typical
Situation on Thursday, and Lie in our Graves on Friday. I really wanted to
hear some older songs, and Dave answered with Minarets and Seek Up. (I
really wanted to hear Granny or Recently or One Sweet World.) I really
enjoyed #41 on Friday. My only problem was the frat-boy
teeny-bopper crowd that surrounded us. Drunk 16-year old kids passing out
or throwing up before the show even started was lame. But count on them for
enthusiastic sing-alongs to Ants and So Much to Say.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this 2 night stand a 6 and-a-half.
