it was the 10th dmb show i've been to and every time i leave i think that show was the greatest. this show is no exception. in 40 degree waether and high winds and rain the dmb put on a great show to start the year off.(just to mention the night before my girlfriend and i went to millers and saw tim reynolds jam, he is great) the setlist:

two step--> fucking awesome song to start the year, kinda new intro verse...boyd was plucking so hard he broke a string or fucked one up or something.a very long jam at the end with dave and carter

recently>--->i thought a very curious selection for the second song or the year. a very slow and great sounding song. reminded me of the old dmb if ya know what i mean. killer build up jam at the end.

#41--->roi was great as always this song seemed to never end. dave's screams were long and loud!!

say goodbye---> longest carter solo before it started ever!!!!!!! very mellow, dave was on because at the end he added a 4th verse that was very long and kinda hard to understand. for the intro he said" cold and storming outside" with a little grim because of the weather.

jimi thing-->smoke my mind so i can get high!! i've never seen boyd dave and roi so on before ...hugh jam especially the dave soft guitar solo, when it was supposed to end roi screwed up and didn't plat the outro so dave yelled" we were supposed to finish then" and went back into yet another soft guitar solo with a great smile.

wishing well---> new song for me. dark and sinister sounding only wordss i could get were"the beauty of the wild"

crash>--> thank god it was NOT the video version..he did a great nye 95 version end jam but longer

minarets-->percussive strumming into thee most creative and longest voice sound jam ever!!!.. tomorrow never knows intro..great screams!

typical situation--> "tears fall from her chin and she thinks it all comes down to nothing" kinda new and different jam at the end.. just like nye 96. one of the best songs of the night

lover lay down---> how happy was i to see this with the entire band soooooo good .. roi finished it off fine with a mellow, flowing solo ..and we dance away

lie in our graves(w/bela)--> great version... at the end he turned like he was going to sing and we dance away but shook his head and laughed

ants marching(w/bela)--> thought it was going to end the show but i was wrong.. boyd frayed his bow more than i.ve ever seen

so much to say/too much---> both very good

encore

tripping billies--> boyd,boyd,boyd,boyd(chech 'em out)

dancing nancies-->"could i have been lost somewhere in Texas?".. i'm not sur why he said that.

i truely have never seen boyd go so crazy.. he stood at the edge of the stage for 2 or 3 minutes kicking his cowboyboot clad feet then went way back bext to carter the when the ending sequence cane on he charged at dave the went back in the other direction with some insane crossover move then started going absolutely crazy..i just love watching his mouth mimmick the tone of his violin great show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This show was GREAT!!! The only thing that made it somewhat disappointing was the rain - the lawn section of the Classic Ampitheatre reminded many fellow DMB fans of a South-Pacific monsoon. Nevertheless, the show was great. The first part (the first hour of so) was all old, less familiar songs, mixed in with a few new ones. However, as the crowd slightly warmed up from that night's 40 degree temperatures, the band did also, performing some of the popular favorites such as Ants Marching. In a few aspects, especially the weather, the show was slightly disappointing. However, the wide variety of songs made the show an excellent start to the band's summer tour!

it was good as always since its dmb, but i found it a bit short. it lacked the enthusiasm and intensity i have seen before. the last show i went to was in hampton and that was an awesome 4 hours....this show was great but i would of liked to see more.

My first DMB concert ever! After standing in the freezing rain for half an hour trying to get tickets,i was treated to the best concert I had ever seen. The bad weather didn't dampen the modd everyone was in.

considering that this show was in richmond, which is the best place to see a dmb show (because of fan enthusiasm), i was greatful to see the band play. I was disappointed at the overall mood of the show, the rain should not have been that much of a damper on the lack of energy projected to the crowd. now don't get me wrong i love these guys and they still tore up Drive in/Drive out, lie in our graves(w/help from bela fleck), of course trippin billies and ants, as well as my favorite #41- but i walked away wanting more... ...sorry p.s. my best show vote would be a tie between 2-13-97 dave and tim- savannah ga. or 8-30?-96 Rielegh NC
