I heard Tripping Billies and Ants Marching being played in the background of a Flyers and Red Wings Stanley cup game.
I was recently watching Women's Basketball on tv, and the opening music, sort of like the theme song leading into the sports broadcasters welcome, was What Would You Say. Most Cool!
Well...I was at Six Flags Great Adventure with some of my friends.(All of us are loyal DMB fans. Well, we decided to go on the Great American Scream Machine. Needless to say, the line was gigantic and we were extremely bored. I stood there humming "Satellite" and my friend tapped along. pretty soon some guys in back of us starting humming. About 5 of us started humming when the video for Satellite appeared on the television screen above us. Now..usually these screens play promotional ads, cartoons, and "popular" videos.(ex: BUSH or AEROSMITH) It was odd and pleasurable to see my favorite band on these screens. After the video people were commenting that they enjoyed the video. Wow..a really odd experience. ****ALSO***** the opening chords of "Ants", "Too Much", "CRASH", and "SO MUCH TO SAY" have been on both of MTV's shows ROAD RULES & the REAL WORLD.
The CBS Orchestra on the Late Show with David Letterman likes to go to commercial breaks playing TOO MUCH. I have caught them doing this 4 times already, and I think they even did it the night Dave and the boys played #41 on the show.
I'm sitting there at Taco Bell having a great meal of course and I'm listening to their usual old pre recorded music they play and, to my great surprise, I hear Let You Down. Rather odd, don't you think?
I was in Super Fresh and the music they play is pretty lame and I was about to leave the store when I heard the Typical Situation and I thought it was just another Super Fresh song but it was really it.
I was watching some professional gymnastics things on TV and they had Crash into me playing in the background while they interviewed some of the competitors.
a clothing store in my miniscule town of chappaqua new york. he bought funky plaid cacky's.
On the show Party of Five- they were talking about a DMB concert at the beginning. Later, Crash was played in the background, almost in its entirety.
I was sittin in a an airport in philly and I was about to get on my plane and the I heard the begining of Recently and I stopped to listen and it really was recently. On the flips side I missed my plane because I stopped to listen.
We were eating lunch in a bagel shop, and the shop had the Crash CD playing on their sound system. We stayed longer than usual just so we could listen.
I was flipping through the t.v. when i heard Ants Marching. The song was being played in the background of Melrose Place. I don't watch the show, but I have a little more respect for it since DMB was in the background.
I didn't see DMB in a strange place, I heard them. While casually pushing my cart around in (get this) KMART, I hear a familiar voice it was Dave over the intercom singing Typical Situation!! Attention Kmart shoppers!!!
well, i was coming home from a DMB concert in NC. And I saw Stefan and Boyd come out of Hardees. Didnt see Dave or the rest. But i knew it was them after a guy yelled. "Stefan, hurry your ass up." I think Boyd yelled it. Then half the Hardees workers went out and took pictures.
So, I'm going getting on this plane to get across the country [for pure pleasure, thank God!], and I was listening to my walkman [a mix tape my friend (a non dmb fan) gave to me] and decided to try out the plane's "radio" station. As I turn it on, "Crash Into Me" comes on! Strange!
Well I never saw DMB in a strange place, but heard them in quite a few First I saw the ANTS MARCHING VIDEO in my local JCpennys, then heard LET YOU DOWN in my local Home Depot,Pathmark, and Macy's, was surprsed to hear that song, but was still siked to hear DMB . It seems they are popping up everywhere ...kinda cool
I work at TJ Maxx and when I went outside to gather the carts and heard Satelite over the shopping center intercom. Needless to say I took extra time to chill and listen!
I was on the upper level of Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights, MI and I could have sworn that I heard Proudest Monkey playing SOMEWHERE in the mall, but I could not figure out where. Being a huge fan, and also kind of bored, I tried to figure out where it was coming from. I thought it was pretty unusual to be hearing DMB playing in any store, especially that song. After wandering around like an idiot for a little while, I found that it was coming from a tiny electronics store on the first floor. Funny how sound carries, because it wasn't really anywhere near where I had been on the upper level. But at least I satisfied my curiosity.
i saw a picture of dave matthews with tim reynolds in a brochure from lafayette college. it's under entertainment, the picture is from a recent acoustic concert there.
Well, for one thing, I heard Ants Marching on Rush Limbaugh, the AM talk show host. But I must say that the most interesting event where Dave Matthews took a place was at the Ice Skating Clinic for the Deaf. I was there picking someone up who teaches there and All of the sudden, I heard the lovable melody of Lover Lay Down, and all of these deaf people and a total of two people who could hear. Why they even play music there over the speakers baffles me....
I saw DMB playing something live on the TV in a Champ's sporting goods store at the mall AND i heard Ants Marching being used as back ground music for the TV show Melrose Place... okay that one might not be so wierd but the first one is
Well I was in the elevator in the building I work in and I was standing there when I heard the the first few notes to #41 but it wasn't the real version though it was like and elevator music version of it. It freaked me out!!!
The strange place is on the Muzak at K-Mart...they have Satellite, and Typical Situation.
they play dmb at my work on a station made for the store.
I was walking around Pier 39 the day of the July 6 Dave Matthews concert in San Francisco, when I heard Dancing Nancies blasting out of this little t-shirt shop. I stopped to listen to the rest of the song, and it turned out that the three guys working in the store were going to the concert that night too and had been listening to Dave all day in preparation!
I saw the Too Much video in Macy's on a television moniter. I also saw the so Much To Say video for the first time there as well.... I was in Bennigan's restaurant the other day with some friends when Too Much came on. I could hardly stay in my seat, especially because it was on the last time i was there. I also caught part of Say Goodbye eminating from a bar in boston. The other night I was awoken at exactly 3am. When i rolled over, i found the Crash Video on VH1. I know that isn't that random, but I guess i'm just really trained. Dave, where?! :OÞ
I saw dave!!! i did...get this...traffic on cary st. (richmond va) was detoured due to some road work, since it is a one way st. all of these cars, at dusk, were merging down a side street. this huge bus is next to me and for fear that it might hit me i check my rear view mirror seeing a firmilar face. Thinking it was a friend i turned to see if it was, i notice it was dave...as this bus is about to topple over me. i avoied the bus and found a parking space, i run up and down the street but he was nowhere to be found, maybe he went to plan 9. I also hosted Karaoke on monday nights, which is a dead night, I would play obscure dave songs, with no real reaction to the small crowd, but i got to listen...thats all
There I was in the Quickie-Mart, ready to buy myself a wild cherry squishi, when I heard "So Much To Say" come on the radio... but it wasn't off of Crash, it was the accoustic version Dave and Tim play!
Ok, I was in Blockbuster checking out Clerks (great movie by the way), when the Tripping Billies video came on. I had never seen it before and I couldn't believe that of all places I would see it at Blockbuster while I was in line checking out a movie. I was so distracted that I left my Blockbuster card there, the idiot that I am, and also practically walked into the door too because I was so into the video. And that's my story.
They were doing commercials for the local newscast and they played the opening part of "Ants Marching". They carried that until the moment before he began singing and then repeated the musical part, if ya know what i mean. (i dont mean that in a dirty sense)
I heard "Lover Lay Down" when I was on a ride (the Monsoon)in a local Kansas City (where I live) theme park (Worlds Of Fun)
I was in this local store (Natural Wear) in a shopping area (Westport) where I live (Kansas City), and I heard them playing "Satellite". I wasn't too impressed, because it was the recent single Then, Rhyme & Reason came on. THEY WERE PLAYIN THE WHOLE under the table and dreaming CD!!
WHEN I WENT SKIING AT A RESORT IN VERMONT THEY PLAYED THE WHOLE CD OF UNDER THE TABLE AND DREAMING. I SAW BOYD TINSLEY IN A JANSPORT BACKPACK AD.
i was walking down from my skybox at a hartford hawks basketball game hoping to get some autograph and So Much To Say came on. It was their recent single at the time so i thought nothing of it. But after that song Two Step came on. I ended up staying there for an hour and heard the whole album!
While trying clothes on in a clothing store called Tags, I heard Satellite playing on the store's radio. I immediatly stopped to enjoy the moment. While trying clothes on in a clothing store called Tags, I heard Satellite playing on the store's radio. I immediatly stopped to enjoy the moment.
My dad, who is also a big DMB fan, has a local commercial on his TV station that has the intro to "too much" on it. This and "ants marching" are popular in the commercial making business. I also heard "let you down" at a Conoco gas station in Colorado somewhere.
He was in the Penn State bookstores signing posters to a whole crowd of people that had noticed him.
I work at a Kitchen Ect. store at the local mall. They usally play elavator music through out the day but, some where in the middle they played satellite, wich made my day.
I was at a Miami University of Ohio girls soccer game and they played Ants Marching and Tripping Billies on thier pre-game music tape.
I was in my town of Lincroft after a concert at the Pnc Bank Arts Center in Holmdel NJ when I saw Dave in a Chineese Resturant. I asked him if he wanted to come back to my house and go for a swim, but he said he had a show to do in Jones Beach. He thanked me for the offer and said maybe next year. I almost died.
I heard typical situation at kmart while waiting for an oil change. I also heard satellite in denn'ys once
I was in Media play and I heard satelite come on and I was surprised they were playing songs off the other cd. It got over and guess what the wholde cd was played so I stayed for the whole thing
this local store Vive Paris plays the intro to Ants Marching for their commercial, I think they use another song too but i am not positive. I live in Northern TX so you u usually hear country songs in commercials. I have to wonnder though if they actually got permission to use the dmb song.
My girlfriend's mother works for a large hotel firm in NC She cannot tell us who is currently staying at the hotel for safety reasons. But she happened to give us a hint that the DMB boys were staying there for a night after a show. So we went there hoping to spot them and did. They were pretty much relaxing at their room as we walked by, and Dave, Boyd, and LeRoy let us take some pictures and get autographs. They are definitely the most nicest and coolest guys around.
I was after school on friday as I usually am for Marching Band and I was bummed cause I forgot my DMB CDs at home. After eating dinner and sitting on the back feild I could faintly hear some music. I walked over to the football feild where there was a girl's soccer game and as the team ran out they were blasting "Watchtower" as loud as ever!
I was in Pacific Sunwear at Quakerbridge Mall in Lawrenceville, NJ, and usually they play either punk or ska bands there. To my surprise, when I walked in, I heard #41. I told my mom that I wanted to stay there a little longer so I could try on some clothes (yeah, right).
Being the diligent graduate student/instructor I am, I found myself working in the office early in the evening one Saturday, trying to get some stuff accomplished before going out and doing my best to avoid writing my thesis. While attempting to concentrate, the radio station I'd been listening to went to comercial break. It seemed someone associated with the Salt Lake City Anniversary Inn (a place where those in the mood go to be hot and bothered on special occassions) thought it would be clever to use the introduction to Crash as sweet backgroud music for their announcement about some sort of recent special on the Inn's theme rooms - something about tiki torches and "your own private tropical cave", or equally bizzare deal. While I'm pretty certain it was supposed to come off as romantic, it was just plain odd to hear the song in this context - the most amusing part being that the ad finished just as Dave starts singing, "You've got your ball, you've got your chain." Just an intsy bit ironic for an Anniversary Inn, don'tcha' think? *8-)
I was watching road rules and I could hear drive in, drive out playing in the background.
Opening to Rush Limbaugh's radio show.
I saw boyd in one of those milk mustache ads.
I was in a Rite Aid and I was just leaving the store when I heard the opening drum sequence to Ants Marching on Remember Two Things and I stayed in the store for a few minutes to hear if it was, and it was. It was weird to have heard a DMB live album in RITE AID!!!!!
I was at a Counting Crows concert in Hartford, CT and the opening band (The Wallflowers) had just finished playing. While we were waiting for the Counting Crows to come on, music was piped into the theater. All of a sudden I heard Ants Marching being played. Everyone in the theater began singing to it. It seemed as if more people knew the words to the DMB song than any of the Wallflower's songs.
I work at a pharmacy and we get our radio via satellite from our corporate headquaters. They always play Typical Situations and Satellite. On occasion there are other songs. One time they played 7 straight DMB songs. It was great!
a friend of mine won 2 backstage passes for the knickerbocker arena in albany ny last october 10, .....meeting dave , stefan, boyd, and roi(carter was taking a .....going to the bathroom) I have to say was probably the coolest thing that ever happened in my life ever......*(not to mention the fact that I was a tripping billie at the time of the encounter.....dave says to me......"you fucked up???", with that smile he gives when he says "hike up your skirt a little more......you know the one....."
I was in a tiny bar in Penang, a small almost unknown island in
Malaysia. I looked up at the tv and guess who I saw jamming away? Yup,
you got it, Dave Matthews Band, it was the Ants Marching video on
Malaysian tv! I was quite impressed as every time I ask anyone in Asia
whether they've heard of DMB they look at me as if I'm mad. Although
since the release of BTCS my sister tells me that all the music shops
have been "sold out" of their DMB albums.
