From this chart, you can see that I ended the day with a gain of $21.31. Fortunately, all of my stocks either went up or remained neutral. The fun of the stock market is that nobody knows for sure what is going to happen, and the investor has to be prepared for the worst. My portfolio was constructed using yahoo. With the stock quotes section of the web site, I chose to construct a new portfolio where I chose which stocks to invest in, and how many shares to buy. Once this information was inputted, I was able to see how my stocks did after a day on the market.
Business SummariesCognex I chose Cognex because it is my dad's company, and the stock has been doing pretty well lately. By investing in Cognex, I will be able to track the stock that we own. Ask Jeeves is a new company which is a search engine on the internet. This company has also been doing well lately, so I thought it would be interesting to track its success over the next week. On this web site, you can type in a question and a list of sites relating to that question will appear, allowing the user to find exactly which information they need. Microsoft
This well known company has done pretty well over the last few years, and I was curious to see if this success continues into the future with all the new computer innovations. Microsoft is one of the leading companies in the world which manufactures computers and software products.
5-Year Chart VS S&P 500 ChartCognex
In this chart you can see that, for the most part, Cognex stock has been above the S&P 500 which is the goal for every company. Although it has had its moments when it has been down, it has risen again, and to a new high, which is great for the company. Here you can see that Ask Jeeves is a new company, being that it began last July. Although the stock did not start out well, as more people began to learn of this site, the popularity, and stock began doing well. This chart was also found in my portfolio under performance, and charts, in which I selected the last year's progress vs. the S&P 500. Microsoft
Microsoft has done progressively better as the years have gone by, and this is why I invested in this stock. It appears, although, that the stock is beginning to dip a little at the moment, which is a little scary. Presently, the stock is well above the S&P 500 which is a good sign. This chart was once again found in my performance option, and under charts.
