Are you afraid of the dark is a little bit differnt then the other shows on Nickelodeon. While most of the other shows on Nick are some kind of comedy or sitcom, Are you afriad of the dark is really like a mystery show. Or an adventure show. Are you Afraid of the dark is really about a group of kids who once a week gather around a campfire in a secret location in the woods. They gather around to tell differnt campfire tales, which are then transfered into storys onto the TV. What they decide to tell about will be differnt every week. They might tell a story on ghosts, weird things, sci-fi, or other kinds of weird things. Each week one of the differnt people around the campfire tells a story. Every week it will be a different person. The call themselves the "midnight society." Where they meet is such a secret that whever they want to have someone new join the group, they have to blindfold them first and then lead them through the woods to the location. Even then they have to remain blindfolded. Are you afraid of the dark first premiered on Nickelodeon in 1991. The show was one of the original shows during Snick when it pemiered and until it went off the air in 1995. It never was as popular as some of the other shows on Nick so it was canceled in 1995. In 1999 Nickelodeon decided to bring it back with one person from the original cast, and the rest all new. They made 26 new episodes, which are airing every Saturday during Snick. |
