I've
been working quietly on this project since Monday afternoon and slowly, I'm
moving towards completion. My eyes are stinging and my mind is a little raw
from sleep deprivation, though, as I've slogged through the design process.
At first it was very difficult to figure out what I was going to do for my
project -- I didn't have anything in mind initially and it took the entire
week and through the weekend before I came up with an idea... And,
then I had to figure out how I was going to accomplish this.
This initial site
was all coded by hand and I knew that I wasn't going to be able to replicate
the enthusiasm that went into building it. Plus the design felt old and dated
although there were elements that I liked -- the background, for instance,
gives this site its unique feel in comparison to many, many others. The basic
idea was to give an "embroidered" look to the site by floating my
images above this background. With the exception of the three Macromedia images
and my gallery screenshots for the game, I've built all of the graphics by
hand.
This is a very structured site in the sense that it's supposed to resemble a newspaper. To that end, certain design elements weren't included either because they limited what I wanted to do (frames) or because the elements were limiting in what they did (flash text and button backgrounds cannot be made transparent)..
That said, I hope you enjoy what I've done. Not all of the links will go anywhere, at least not yet because I don't have the time to build all of my content. However, over time, I hope to get this project up to snuff.
