Richard Beckinsale was born on July 8th, 1948 in Nottingham, England. He starred in many TV shows, the most popular of which were 'Porridge'/'Going Straight' and 'Rising Damp' and married twice. To his first wife, Margaret, he had a daughter named Samantha who he hardly saw, as Margaret wouldn't allow it. This depressed him, despite his happy marriage with second wife, Judy Loe (also an actress). With Judy, he had a second daughter, named Kate and both of his daughters have gonew on to be successful actresses -- Samantha is best known for her role in 'London's Burning' and Kate for her period drama roles. Kate also starred in the 1996 Arts Council-funded 'Shooting Fish' with Stuart Townsend. Sadly, Richard died on March 19th, 1979 on the set of the last episode of a new comedy series set in a florist named 'Bloomers,' which was filmed in America. A year after his death, a book of his poetry was released under the title, 'With Love.' |
