DAMN! Why does Nothing *ever* work out the way I plan? Okay, maybe its not always a bad thing, but today certainly could have gone better. Nothing went off how it was supposed to, and NOW I've *really* made her mad. If Kathryn Janeway ever speaks to me again, its'll probably be to put my happy ass in the brig until we get home. And of *course* here she is now.
I just want to be alone, and *that* isn't even going to work.
"Come in!" I yelled. Kathryn stepped into my quarters, still in her whipped cream covered uniform. "I really *can* explain, really."
"Mr. Paris, don't. I don't think I *want* to know what or who this was for. The point is, it hit me. Tell me one thing, why?"
"Um, I had a surprise for Chakotay, and one for you, and..." Chakotay stormede into my living room. "Captain, help me!" I managed to sqweak before I was tackled.
"COMMANDER!" Kathryn screamed. Chakotay climbed off of my chest and let go of my neck. It wasn't that big of a deal. How the hell was I supposed to know that little puppy-like animal I got for Kathryn would eat his medicine bag? Its not my fault that Kathryn got the whipped cream bomb and Chakotay got the puppy. She went into his office before he did, and I couldn't stop her.
"Sorry Captain, you can kill him first." Chakotay stepped back. "His damn dog he got ate my father's medicine bag. And its not as though I can just hail him up and get another one."
"Dog? What dog?" I felt their eyes burn into me.
"The surprise mix up, Captain." Seven barged in next, scratching her puffy swollen face. "Oh no......"
"Lt. Paris, where is the animal you brought to sickbay?"
"Chakotay had him placed in the brig until we reach the next M-class planet." Kathryn giggled. She found the whole situation funny.
"Chakotay, the dog just chewed the flapp a little. You can fix it. Seven, the Doctor will get rid of that little rash in a heartbeat. Now, everyone out so I can talk to Lt. Paris, who still IS a Lt....for now." Gods let me die. At least we were alone for the slaughter. "Tom, you went to great lengths for this little surprise. May I see her?"
"Yeah," I said, getting up and going to my bedroom. The puppy-like creature was knawing on a slipper. "Aw, man, Rielly, no! Bad dog!" I lifted it up and went back to Kathryn. She was cleaning some of the whipped cream off her shirt. "Captain, meet Rielly, the little trouble maker."
"Aw, she's beautiful. Not really a dog though." The pup liked her face. "Okay, maybe its a lot like a puppy. I thought you said she was in the brig."
"I rescued her for you."
"I love her, Tom." Kathryn reach up onto her tip toes and kissed my cheek quickly. When she looked up at me, she was blushing. Kathryn Janeway was *blushing* at me! I didn't know what to do, so I kissed her back. Murphey's Law; Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. She turned her head, and instead of her cheek, I kissed her lips. It wasn't a peck; she kissed me back.

Okay, so maybe that night hadn't gone as planned. But I'm really glad it didn't, because as I wake this morning for duty a month later, I'm not alone anymore. I have a dog on one side, and Kathryn on the other. I could do with out the dog.
