Note: Tom and B'Elanna are N*O*T together.
Sam opened his eyes. The window above his head let in a soft, star light
glow. He stretched and yawned, realizing he was on a couch. He looked around.
The surroundings were nothing like he'd ever seen before.
"Ohh boy," he said, realizing he was far beyond his own time.
"Theorizing that one could time travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam
Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished .... He woke
to find himself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not his
own and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. His
only guide on this journey is Al, an observer from his own time, who
appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear. And so
Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right
what once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the
leap home."
2378
A white door of light opened and Al stepped out.
"Sam," he said, not looking at him. "Ziggy can't even begin to figure out
where you are. But, whoa, your a hot one this time!"
"Quit fooling around."
"What, Captain?" a man said, entering the office area. He had a tattoo on
his forehead and wore a uniform identical to Sam's. "Did you say something?"
Al shook his head. "Who is he?" Al's eyes went wide.
"Um, nothing. This, uh, why don't you go back to......."
"The bridge?"
"Yeah, the, um, the bridge." The man looked at her funny. "I just need a
minute, sir. I'm not feeling all that well."
"Then you should get to sick bay. Who is he?"
"I'm a hologram," Al said, knowing that the man wouldn't believe him.
"Oh, another holoprogram loose in your Ready Room. The doctor'll probably
want his holo emitter back soon, so I'll let you and the Captain be alone."
The man wiggled his eyebrows and left.
"Oh, Sam, I think we're in trouble now! If they have holograms, we may
just be someplace in the future. Ziggy can't predict anything here!" Sam sat
up and walked over to the desk. He looked at the console and tapped a button
that looked like it would be a power source. Nothing happened. There was no
keyboard, and no mouse. "Try talking to it."
"Can I see who is on board......the ship?" A list of names came up. Sam
looked at a picture of a young woman sitting in the grass with an Irish
setter and a man. "Is this me?"
"Yeah, pretty nice body you got there this time!"
"Al, knock it off." Sam studied the picture more carefully. "Al, look.
The year was 2371 when this was taken."
"You jumped pretty far out of your life time. What does the list say?"
"Janeway, Kathryn, Captain, Human. Cha-ko-tay, acting first officer,
Human. Tuvok, Lt. Commander, Chief of Security, Vulcan. What's a Vulcan?"
"Well, we know you're the captain. You must be Kathryn. Maybe there's a
Ziggy in this time, I'll try to contact her." The white door opened and Al
disappeared. Sam leaned back and began reading about the crew of
this....ship.
"I'm engaged," he said to himself. Sam looked over at the picture of
Kathryn and the man. "So this must be the lucky man. I guess I have to see
that they marry......" he mumbled. A chime sounded. Sam looked up, confused.
After sounding twice more, the man with the tattoo entered. "Hello," Sam
looked down at the computer. "Cha-ko-tay?"
"Katie, I want you to come to sick bay. You're acting very strangely. At
least have a cup of your favorite tea."
"As I said, I'm just tired, but tea does sound wonderful right now."
Chakotay turned to face her, eyes wide. He drew a phaser. "What are you
doing?"
"Computer, seal the room! I don't know who you are, but you aren't
Kathryn Janeway."
"Of course I am. I'm just tired!"
"Kathryn would have drawn a phaser and put me in the brig for calling her
Katie; I know that, she's done it before. Kathryn hates tea. Coffee only.
You've had worse weeks then this. This last month has been quiet and
relaxing, and until now, Kathryn has been in the best of moods. Less than 20
minutes ago, she was going to lay down for am hour before getting ready for
the party on the holodeck tonight."
"Commander Chakotay, put that down and get out of my office before I DO
throw you in the brig. Perhaps I am beginning to like the name Katie, it
makes me feel younger. I like tea instead of coffee on occasion. You don't
know every little thing about me. Now get out. I have work to do." Sam walked
over to the couch and picked up a PADD and looked it over. Chakotay put the
phaser away, eyed the Captain once more and left. "Al get back here, NOW!"
"Captain?" a small voice called from the other side of the desk. Sam
leaned over to sit eye to eye with the child. She looked in his eyes. "You
aren't Captain Janeway."
"Of course I am. What can I do for you, Naomi?" He had made himself more
familiar with the crew of the ship by going through the manifest, and
listening to Kathryn's logs. The girl looked closely.
"You a man! You looked like Captain Janeway and then you morphed!" she
started to run.
"Computer seal this room!" he called. Naomi stood at the door, eyes wide
with fright. "Naomi, its okay. I'm not here to hurt anyone. My name is Dr.
Sam Beckett. I'm a Quantum physicist from 1999. I leap from person to person
to help them. I came into Kathryn Janeway for a good reason, and I'm going to
help her. You don't have to be afraid." Naomi had huddled on the floor in the
corner as he spoke. Sam knelt down next to her. "Al, get in here!" Al opened
the port and stepped through.
"You rang?"
"She can see me. The kid can see me."
"Who are you?" Naomi asked softly, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Al. I'm a hologram."
"Like the doctor?"
"Dr. Beckett isn't a hologram. He's a.....Quantum leaper. Nice horns.
Sam, I'm no good with kids. My fifth wife had 2 and we hated each other.
The boy was Satan, I swear, and the girl was just as evil. There are reasons
I. The'm not a father, and their names are James and Kerrie K-"
"Al, shut up and start helping me here." He switched from kneeling to
sitting Indian style. "Look, sweet heart, I'm not going to hurt you. You have
to trust me."
"You're human."
"Yes, I am."
"The nearest human is 50 years away from here. How can I trust you? You
locked me in here."
"Naomi, you can't tell anyone about me. It could really mess things up
for me, and for Captain Janeway. Please, you have to trust me." Naomi
sniffled. "I need your help. Please, help me Naomi?"
"You're only going to help us, right?"
"I promise."
"I'll help you. I won't tell anyone. Not even Neelix. I promise. What do
you need me to help you with?" Sam smiled and walked the girl over to the
couch.
"I need to know how to work things here. I can read the names of everyone
on this ship and engage a door lock. How do you get something to eat around
here? I didn't eat in my last leap, and Kathryn hardly eats." Naomi grinned
and walked over to a small hole in the wall.
"Computer, two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, please. And two
glasses of milk." The food materialized and Naomi handed the plate to Sam and
took the milk to the table. "Dr. Beckett, you know men don't wear lipstick,
right?"
"Of course I do, but Kathryn Janeway does. You and Slackjaw over there
are the only ones who can see me as Sam, and not Captain Janeway. Naomi, the
computer didn't say much about you, other than your name and who your mother
is. Tell me about yourself and the ship."
"I'm 6 years old, but since my father is K'Tarrian, I age 50% faster than
humans. That's why I appear to be 9."
"Ah."
"Uh, Sam, Ziggy has something. You have to do three things to leap this
time. Send the kid out." Naomi scowled at Al. "C'mon kid."
"How am I supposed to help him if I don't know what is going on?" Al
rolled his eyes and slapped his hand held communicator.
"You had to enlist the kid."
"Al," Sam warned.
"There is a 99% chance that you have to get them home, but to leap, you
have to also land her mother with Chakotay. It wouldn't hurt to persuade a
Borg Babe to bag a Hologram." Sam's eyes shot up to meet Al's. "Not me, the
holographic Doctor." Naomi smiled. "This is tricky, Sam. You have to do
things in order. To get Chakotay with Samantha, he has to get over Kathryn.
To get over Kathryn, she has to be with someone. Probably Tompar-" Al slapped
the remote. "Ah, Tom Paris, the pilot. Once Sam and Chakotay are together,
this Borg babe'll ask the doctor to remove the last implant so she can love,
and she'll love him. I'll have Ziggy fix my program. Only you and the kid'll
be able to see me. Get to work." Al opened the port and stepped into the
light. The door vanished.
"Naomi, how are we going to get this Tom guy to fall in love with me?"
"Easily, since everyone but Captain Janeway noticed that Tom is
completely in love with her. Getting my Mom with Chakotay will be a bit
harderplete. With a little pushing from Neelix, Chakotay'll be asking her for
pletea date on the holodeck."
"What about your father?"
"Voyager got stranded out here about 7 years ago. I was born 7 months
into the journey back to the Alpha Quadrant. When I was about 3, we were able
to contact Starfleet and receive monthly letters. The first one from my
father was that he had remarried only 3 weeks before we were able to contact
Starfleet. My Mom was really sad for a long time. He still talks to me for 3
minutes every 7 weeks when my comm time comes up. I do want to meet him when
we get home. If we get home."
"Hello Tuvok. Off to the cafeteria?" Naomi tugged lightly.
"The 'cafeteria' is three levels up. I'm going to sickbay, Captain. If
you'll excuse me." Tuvok nodded politely and walked away.
"Mess hall, Captain, on deck two. Why don't we go back to your quarters
and I'll show you from your computer terminal?" Sam nodded. Naomi lead him to
a turbo lift. "Deck 2."
"Commander, I have just had an.....interesting encounter with Captain
Janeway." Chakotay put the PADD down and looked at the Vulcan. Al stood
behind him. He'd fixed Ziggy so only Sam and Naomi could see him.
"Tell me about it."
"She was on deck 5 with Naomi Wildman. The captain didn't seem to know me
at first until Naomi said hello. She didn't smile as she usually does."
"She looked unhappy?"
"No, Commander. She never smiles fully. Usually Captain Janeway has a
lopsided smile. Today, it was a small, even grin. Logic would suggest that
either this isn't Captain Janeway, or something has happened that she chooses
not to discuss with us." Chakotay nodded deep in thought. "Shall I
interrogate her?"
"Uh oh!" Al said, looking at his remote. "I gotta find Sam." Al opened
the port, and was ready to step in.
"No, she's the Captain. If its not her, we'll know tonight at the party."
"How will a party-"
"Kathryn shows up to the party, has one or two drink, stays long enough
to be polite to Neelix and leaves because she claims to have duty the next
night. If she doesn't do that, we'll know." Al smiled and stepped into the
port.
"That's not how she acts at parties. She usually has at least one piece
of cake with me and spends most of the evening with Lt. Paris and Commander
Chakotay. Avoid Tuvok. He's known the captain for more than 20 years. I'm not
surprised he picked up on the slip up near sick bay," Naomi said, yawning and
sipping her water. "Dr. Beckett, don't use the replicator too much except for
coffee. The computer rations are running low for everyone this month. Once we
find a planet to restock supplies, then the rations should be increased by 5%
or so. Chakotay takes care of that." Naomi curled up on the couch.
"What time is this party?"
"It starts at 1900 hours. Its 1845 now." Naomi yawned again. "Hurry.
Captain Janeway is never late."
"Look at you, you're exhausted." Sam pulled a blanket up over her. "Why
don't you skip the party and get a little sleep?" Naomi sat up.
"No, I've been waiting for this party for a month! It's Harry's
birthday."
"Do I need to bring him a present?"
"No," Naomi said, yawning again. "You gave him a holoprogram yesterday."
Sam sat on the couch next to Naomi, who curled against him and closed her
eyes. Sam smiled and pulled the blanket around her. He put his feet up on the
coffee table and closed his eyes. "Computer, set the alarm to go off in 30
minutes," Naomi said drowsily.
Samantha Wildman stepped into the Captain's quarters. They weren't
locked. She looked around and saw Naomi curled up next to the Captain, both
sleeping soundly. Chakotay and Tom had followed her in.
"Shhhh, look," Samantha whispered.
"Should we wake them?" To punctuate Tom's sentence, the chronometer's
alarm sounded softly, waking the two on the couch.
"Naomi, wake up," Sam said, gently shaking the girl on his side. "We have
company."
"Mmm." Naomi opened her eyes. "Hi Mom. Lt. Paris, where is Ensign Kim? I
wanted to say happy birthday."
"He's on the holodeck." Naomi stretched and yawned.
"Let's go! Come on, Captain!" Naomi tugged Sam to his feet. She linked
Sam in one hand and Tom in the other. As they walked, Naomi slipped out from
between them, linking their hands together. Neither one made a movement to
let go. Samantha's jaw dropped. She pulled Naomi back out of ear shot.
"Naomi!" she exclaimed in a whisper. "What was that about?"
"Long story. Short version is simple. Everyone knows Lt. Paris loves the
Captain. Well, we had a long talk today. She wanted to know what the crew
would think about the two of them together. I'm just helping them along."
"Naomi!"
"What? Captain Janeway really loves Tom. You know, it wouldn't hurt for
you to date."
"You aren't serious!"
"Mom, I have a feeling something really good will happen if you stop
pretending you aren't ready. Gods, I'm not 3. I understand that you need to
be in-love." Al gave her the cut signal from behind Samantha. "Mom, I wanted
to bring Flotter. Harry helped Neelix make him for me. I'll be there soon."
Naomi ran off to the turbo lift, Al in hot pursuit. Once the doors closed,
she turned to him. "What was that about? I'm supposed to help."
"You just dropped the success down to 79% from 83%. Look, you did a great
thing with the hand holding bit. It was perfect, but leave your mother to
Sam. He'll have Chakotay eating out of your mother's hand in a week."
"He doesn't know Mom. I do. Before she'll do Anything, she'll want to
know what I think. You need to leave my Mom and Commander Chakotay to me!"
"You need to stop interfering!"
"You need to relax!"
"You need to grow up!"
"You do too!" With that the doors opened and Naomi stomped off towards
her quarters.
Tuvok stood next to Chakotay, watching Tom and Naomi dance. "Look at how
Kathryn is watching him."
"Commander, I have observed the Captain in many relationships. I assure
you, there is nothing between the two of you. I suggest you accept that she
may have found someone. Also, let her know you approve. It may keep the two
of you as close friends and strengthen the command structure."
"In other words, keep a stiff upper lip and move on?"
"Precisely."
"Do you think that the reason she's been acting strangely is because she
is thinking seriously about having a relationship with Tom?"
"It would seem logical." Tuvok nodded towards where Kathryn and Tom were
talking. "She does appear to be somewhat infatuated with Mr. Paris." Naomi
smiled her mother, who was behind Tuvok and Chakotay getting a glass of
punch. Chakotay smiled back and waved, not knowing who the child was waving
at.
"I think Naomi has been playing Cupid. I told you about what happened in
the corridor with the holding hands. She's been trying to get Samantha and I
together. How do you tell a 6 year old you aren't remotely interested in her
mother?" Samantha felt tears come to her eyes. "Now don't get me wrong, I
think very highly of Samantha. She's beautiful, but she's not my type."
"I believe you mean she is not Kathryn."
"Precisely. I could easily love Samantha. I do love her, but I'm in-love
with Kathryn. I don't want to be unfair to Sam or Naomi. I'd probably end up
hurting Sam and Naomi. She's already lost her husband. Naomi doesn't need to
loose another father."
"Logic states that-" Tuvok started, but was interrupted.
"Logic states you should stop fooling yourself about me, Chakotay. No one
ever said Naomi and I needed you," Samantha said pushing past Chakotay and
storming out.
"Logic states that we should hold these conversations in a more private
area."
"Yeah, no shit," Al said from his hidden place nearby. "Sam! Naomi! Meet
me in the corridor!" Al shouted. The two looked at each other and headed for
the door.
"He said that?"
"She said THAT!?"
"How screwed are we, Al?" Al slapped the remote.
"Holy heartfailiure.....the chances of success on those two went up to
98.7%. IF the midget keeps her trap shut, they might just end up together."
"Its not like you're helping, you ass!"
"Naomi!" Sam warned. "Your mother'll have my head if she heard that. Why
don't you go find her? See if she's all right."
"Hey, that's a good idea! On one hand, we get rid of the ankle biter, on
the other we fail because of her, and spend the rest of YOUR life with this
motly crew." Naomi set her jaw.
"Al, shut up. She's the only reason I'm not trying to solve this from
the brig. Either be civilized, or wait in the chamber until we need you." Sam
om thgave his most determined look.
"Yes, Ma'am," Al said, taking in Kathryn Janeway's 'Shit or Go Blind'
look that Sam had worn proudly. "Sorry, Kid." Naomi was about to say
something when Chakotay passed by.
"Captain, Naomi, did you see which way Samantha went?" Al slapped the
remote.
"Her quarters," Al told Sam.
"She went back to our quarters, Commander. Can I talk to you?" Naomi
asked, giving her sweetest big-blue-eyed-sweet-little-girl look that almost
no one on the crew could say 'no' to.
"Sure, you can walk me to your quarters. I need to speak with your
mother." Naomi looked up at him as they walked. "Naomi, I want to know what
you would think about me asking your mother to dinner."
"You made her pretty mad, Commander."
"I know. I want to apologuise to her, and to you. I didn't even think
what the two of you thought about me having feelings for your mother." Naomi
stepped in front of him.
"Commander, I think it would be great if you date my mom. You're a really
nice guy. I know you love Captain Janeway, but I know she's in-love with Tom.
You need to get over the Captain. I saw my mom after she found out that my
Dad had remarried. I don't want her to be sad like that ever again. If you
love my mom, either you love her forever, or stay away. Got it?" Chakotay
lifted the girl onto his shoulders.
"Got it."
Sam and Al watched Chakotay and Naomi walk away together. "Well, two
down, two to go."
"What, Kathryn?" Tom asked from behind.
"Thinking out loud again, Tom. Would you walk me back to my quarters? I'm
kind of tired and I'd like to get some sleep." Tom held his arm out, and Sam
took it gracefully. "How was the party? I was only there for part of it."
"Harry and B'Elanna danced a few times, but that's about it. The only
people who left as a couple were the two of us, and we aren't even a couple."
Tom stopped in front of her quarters. "Not a very long walk."
"No, not really." Sam stood very close to Tom.
"Part of this depends on you and Tom staying together, Sam. I hate to say
it, but you should kiss him," Al said from behind.
"Tom, I want to have dinner with you, tomorrow, no uniforms, just the two
of us." Tom smiled and leaned down and kissed who he thought was Kathryn
Janeway. "I'll see you tomorrow night at 2000 hours. Don't be late."
"Not even the Borg can keep me away, Kathryn." He leaned down and kissed
Sam again.
"Would it make a difference if I said I'm increadible sorry?"
"Not really, Chakotay." Sam put Naomi's toys into a box near the couch.
She cleaned up the scattered PADDs. "No one said I even wanted to date you.
You assumed I did."
"I also assumed that when I fall in-love with someone that there is a
chance of at least persuing a relationship."
"Well, Captain Janeway had other ideas."
"I'm not talking about her. I didn't realize how strongly I felt about
you until you walked out that door angry at me. I feel like an ass about what
I said, Samantha." Sam looked in on her daughter, who was sound asleep
already.
"Look, we don't need your pitty, or you. I don't think I want anything to
do with you outside of the command structure." Chakotay could see tears
coming to her eyes.
"I'm sorry I hurt you, Sam. Don't shut me out because of one stupid
mistake. It was very stupid of me to say what I did, and I only wish I could
take it back. I care about you, and was fooling myself that I could forget
about you for anyone, especially Kathryn Janeway."
"Can you deal with becoming an insant father of a 6 year old?"
"What is insant? I have been around Naomi her entire life, and think of
her as a daughter. She's a wonderful child, and I would die for her as if she
were my own child."
"What about tantrums, and nightmares, and first dates, and-"
"And her growing up. I've dealt with a Klingon temper for the last ten
years. I don't think a 6 year old will scare me off, Sam," he said, moving
closer to her. "Sam, please don't shut me out."
"I couldn't take it if you left, Chakotay," she said, allowing Chakotay
to pull her into a hug.
"Then I'll stay." He tilted her head up to meet his in a gentle kiss.
"Morning Mom," Naomi said, dragging her feet as she entered the main
living area. "Morning Chakotay."
"Good morning, sweet heart." Sam expected Naomi to ask why Chakotay was
with them this early. "Sleep okay?"
"Yeah." Naomi stretched and yawned. "Chakotay, are you going to have
breakfast with us?"
"Sounds like an idea, Chakotay." He nodded and smiled. "Go get dressed.
Neelix has some new dishes for us to try today." Naomi head back into her
bedroom. "I was sure she'd be curious," Sam whispered to Chakotay.
"Mom, is Chakotay going to move in with us?" Naomi called from her room
casually.
"We'll talk about that later," Chakotay called back. He looked at Sam and
the two started laughing.
"I guess this means she approves," Sam said, knowing full well it was
Naomi who set them up in the first place.
"Sam, wake up," Naomi said, leaning over Sam, who lay sleeping in
Kathryn's bed. He opened his eyes and saw the girl inches away from his face.
He gasped, and pulled the covers up over him. "Don't worry. I didn't see
anything except that you're wearing Captain Janeway's favorite nighty. Looks
good!"
"Cute, Naomi. Look, I want you to wait outside while I get dressed."
"Chakotay spent the night. I was awake until really late. They spent the
whole night talking. I came out at around 0400 hours and they were asleep on
the couch, my mom curled pu with her head on his chest. It was too cute."
"Aren't you supposed to be in school?" Al said, appearing through the
port.
"Aren't you supposed to be an adult?"
"Hey, both of you, knock it off. Naomi, tell him about your mom."
"She spent the whole night talking to Chakotay and they fell asleep in
each other's arms on the couch," she said impatiently.
"Out-freakin-standing!"
"How'd it go with Tom?"
"It went rather well. Actually, it went terrific. Al, what's next?" The
chime rang. "Come," Sam called. Seven of Nine stepped in. "Hello, Seven. I'm
just getting all the visitors this morning."
"Good morning, Naomi Wildman. Captain, I have a matter to discuss with
you that can not wait."
"I'll see you in the mess hall, Captain." Naomi left. Al was still
staring at Seven, mouth hanging open.
"And I thought you had the body to drool over. Maybe you and the Borg-"
"What did you wish to speak with me about?" Sam said, interrupting Al.
"I have noticed that you have decided to ignore protocol and engage a
relationship with Lt. Paris."
"Yes, I have. Is that bothering you?"
"No, Captain. Your private affairs are your own. I seek your advice in a
similar matter. I have had the doctor remove the implant that had previously
made relationship dangerous. He has since asked me on what I believe would be
a romantic level."
"Then go out with him. It couldn't hurt. The doctor won't do anything you
don't want him to. He's a very nice......hologram. I can't make decisions for
you, but I will give you some advice. Don't deny yourself happiness, Seven.
The doctor may be the one who can make you happy. You owe it to yourself to
give him a chance." Seven nodded once and headed towards the door.
"Kid, the chances went up to 100%. Sam should leap-" The remote bleeped.
"Wait a minute, its down to 97%.......85%......30%."
"Tom and B'Elanna. She's had her eye on him for a long time. DECK TWO!"
The turbo lift changed direction. It opened and waiting was Samantha, tears
steaming down her cheeks. "Mommy?"
"Oh, Naomi, I-"
"Where's Chakotay?"
"Samantha, will you wait? I told you, B'Elanna is like a sister to me.
You have to relax. I only hugged her."
"You ass!" Naomi squealed, running away from the two.
"Naomi-" Chakotay called. "Look, Harry asked her to marry him last night.
I was happy for her, Samantha. I'm sorry." Chakotay turned and walked away.
"I'm sorry I fell in-love with you."
"Sam! You gotta get to Samantha's quarters, now. I had Ziggy look further
into this thing. You're here to save Sam's life. She's got a hypospray, and
she's not happy! You better run, Sam." Sam stood and headed towards the door.
"Captain, where are you going?" B'Elanna asked. The looks around the
conference table were of confussion.
"Something's wrong. I'll let you know later. Dismissed."
"Run, Sam!" Sam picked up pace.
"Deck 5," he said once in the turbolift. It opened up and Sam broke into
a full run, stopping at the Wildman's quarters. The door was locked.
"Computer, open this door, authorization Janeway Alpha pi," he said, using
the code Naomi had given him. The door slide open. Samantha was unconscious
on the floor, hypospray in hand. Sam lifted her limp form up and ran to Sick
bay.
"Please state the nature of- oh my god." Sam lay the lifeless woman on a
biobed and the doctor scanned her.
"Is she alive?"
Naomi sat on Sam's lap, crying softly while her mother lay in a coma in
the surgical bay. Her eyes were narrowed in anger at Chakotay. She didn't
know why her mother was sick, she just knew it was his fault.
"Sam," Al said, entering through the port. Naomi went over to the
surgical bay to sit with her mother. "You have to fix it, soon. If you don't
fix it by tomorrow morning, then Naomi dies. She turns the safties off on the
holodeck and drowns. The crew takes it very hard. Sam succeeds next time,
Chakotay ends up trying to kill Tom for dating Kathryn, and it gets pretty
ugly."
"Chakotay," Naomi said, having overheard Al. "Do you love her?"
"Yes, I do, Naomi."
"Then stop doing stupid things and love her." Samantha's eyes fluttered
open. "Mommy?"
"Hi baby. What happened?" Naomi kissed her cheek and went back to Sam.
"You got sick, Samantha. I thought I lost you. Don't scare us like that,"
Chakotay whispered, smoothing her hair down. "Naomi gave me some advice. She
said if I love you, to stop doing stupid things and just love you."
"She's a bright kid. I'm sorry Chakotay. I only ment to take enough to
get a full nights sleep. I would never-"
"I know. Its going to be okay, Sam." Naomi smiled and settled back onto
Sam Beckett's chest. He smiled. Sam could get used to being Kathryn. Blue
light surrounded him, and Dr. Sam Beckett leaped.
When he opened his eyes, he was still on Voyager, looking into Naomi's tearfilled eyes. Confussion came over her face.
"Tom?" She looked closer, and a smile broke out on her face. "Sam?" she
whispered.
