"Captain Janeway to the crew of USS Voyager. 24 years and 11 months ago, I made an announcement. Naomi Wildman, Voyager's first child, was born. Today I make an equally joyous announcment. Voyager's first grandchild was born as 1523 hours. Naomi and Sam will announce the name at a later time."

"B'Elanna won the betting pool," Tom whispered.

"Congradulations to Sam and Naomi, and to B'Elanna, who won the betting pool. One half of the winnings go to the happy couple and their son. Harry, cut the comm." Harry nodded.

"Theorizing that one could time travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam
Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished .... He woke
to find himself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not his
own and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. His
only guide on this journey is Al, an observer from his own time, who
appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear. And so
Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right
what once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the
leap home."

Sam rocked the infant gently as Naomi slept on the biobed. He ran his fingers over Scott's 3 tiny spikes. They weren't as sharp as Naomi's, but looked just the same. He looked up as the sickbay doors hissed open. Samantha and Chakotay entered, both carrying small bags.

"Hi Samantha! Come meet your grandson." Sam handed the baby to Samantha. "We named him Scott Neelix Beckett."

"I know, Naomi told me this morning when she showed me the nursery. He's so beautiful, Sam!" Sam choked out a small laugh.

"Yeah, he is!"

"He looks like Naomi did when she was born," Chakotay murmured, smoothing his soft fuzzy hair down.

"Scott has more hair," the Doctor pointed out from the biobed where he stood, monitoring Naomi.

"Jealous?" Chakotay joked. The Doctor tossed him a dirty look as he lifted the baby from Samantha's arms.

"Its time for Naomi to feed him."

"Chakotay, why don't we-"

"Yeah. Congradulations, Sam! And gooooddd luck." Samantha slapped his shoulder as they left. The doctor woke Naomi and handed her Scott.

"Naomi," Sam whispered to his beloved wife as she slept.

"Hmm?"

"Wake up, hon."

"Scott's 10 months old, give him his bottle and he'll go to sleep," she murmured turning away from Sam.

"No, sweetie, its not Scotty, look out the veiw port." Naomi sighed and turned towards her husband. "Look!" he whispered as he moved so she could see.

"Earth? That's Earth! Earth is in the Alpha Quadrant, and we're at Earth," she said quickly. "We made it?" Sam nodded as she launched herself into his arms. Scott stood in his crib and yelled once, letting his presence known. Naomi stood and lifted him up. "Scotty, we're home!"

"So this is San Francisco?" Naomi asked, leaning into Sam's arms.

"Yes, but very different from when I was here last. It was 1999 when the Quantum Leap project started. I wonder if my old coffee shop is still here. It should be around the corner." Sam and Naomi rounded the corner. There were a few shops, a transport station, and finally, the ancient coffee shop. Music from the 1980's and 1990's poured out. "This is it! Oh, wow, its just how I remember it!"

"Samuel? Samuel Beckett?" a woman called from inside. She stepped out.

"Yes, that's me. Gillian?" She smiled and nodded. "How- what- This is my wife, Naomi, and our son, Scott." The 10 month old nessled closer to Sam.

"Sam, I didn't think you knew anyone here in this century," Naomi said softly.

"She's an old friend. Gillian disappeared in 1986. I studied the history ofKirk, and found her name, but it said you disappeared in 2290. What happened?"

"Our science vessel met up with a time displacement worm hole. It collapsed right after we got out, and Star Fleet had long forgotten us as dead. They wouldn't allow us another time sun warp. I left Star Fleet after that and reopened our favorite coffee place."

"Gillian and I met here and discussed science theories. She gave me the original Quantum Leap idea. Oh, Gillian, it worked! I spent 10 years leaping! I eventually leaped into Kathryn Janeway when Naomi was around 5. I leaped back into Tom Paris a year or so later, but Ziggy pushed me out of Tom and into my own body. I leaped once more, 15 years into the future when Naomi was 23. It was so amazing! Remember Al? He took your place in The Big Plan and became the hologram. It was so amazing, Gillian."

"Ziggy? As in one of my dolphins?"

"She had dolphins?"

"Naomi, Gillian worked at a Marine institute. She had two whales, named George and Gracie, and 3 dolphins, Ziggy, Groucho, and Harpo." Naomi smiled as politly as possible. Sam could tell she wasn't please. "Before I went back to Arizona, I spoke to Bob. He thought you left him because of George and Gracie."

"Partly, yes. But Jim Kirk was the other part of that!" She laughed, winking.

"Well, the cafe looks great. Can we get a high chair for Scott?"

"Sam, I have to be at HQ in less than an hour. Can you handle Scotty for a few hours?"

"Of course, Sweet heart." Sam took the diaper bag, kissed Naomi. "Love you," he whispered.

"Love you, too. I'll see you at home." He smiled and nodded. Sam watched after her as she left.

"Well, Sam, would you like your usual?" He nodded, still looking down the road where Naomi was headed. "John, get a high chair, two cafe mochas, and three chocolate chip cookies." The waited smiled and went to retreive the anceint child seat.

"The cafe looks great, Gillian. Is that Pat Benetar?"

"Yeah. I programed all of my favorite songs from the 80's. An old friend introduced me to 1990's and 2000 music, and it seemed to fit the coffee shop. It took a lot of work to get a replicator to make the coffee pots right. Everything is made just how it would have been in our time." John set the high chair at the table. "Thanks."

"Here we go, Scotty boy."

"Scotty? After Montgomery Scott?" Sam nodded.

"He was one of my favorite people to study. Stuck in a transporter for 75 years."

"He'll be around in a few hours. Every Friday at 1500 hours. "Oh, lass, its good to know one of me friends is still breathing!" he'll say. He does every time." Gillian smiled fondly. "You know, we're both arould 440 years old now."

"Yeah, I'm 445, and my wife is 25."

"At your age, the least of you worries should be marrying a younger woman." Sam laughed. "Your in an old style Star Fleet uniform. Did you enter Star Fleet while you were on Voyager?"

"Yeah. I'm a psychologist. Tomorow, I meet with Deanna Troi for my analisys, and then I'll be posted with Naomi someplace. I hope to get Voyager, but since the Enterprise has over 2,000 people, they need a second counselor, and apparently with my science back ground, they'll be trying to post me there. Naomi does a lot of botany, medical, and astrometrics. She couldn't choose one field, so she worked in those three. When she was 10, Captain Janeway made her an official Ensign JG, with a black and green uniform." John set the two drinks and the plate of cookies on the table. Sam smiled and sipped his drink.

"Green isn't a Star Fleet color," Gillian commented.

"No, but it was Naomi's favorite color, and since she was working in hydroponics 3 days a week, and Engineering 3 days, Kathryn figured green was fitting. When I leaped back in, there were 10 people on Naomi's team on the hydroponics deck. It had gone from one small room, to half of deck 13! About 85% of the food we ate came from Naomi's gardens. There was Telaxian Tomato soup, Green potato salad, New Earth III had some wonderful berry plants that Naomi was able to transport and grow. It was amazing." Gillian laughed lightly. "She's a wonderful girl, Gillian."

"She sounds wonderful. What happened with you and Donna?"

"I was stuck in a quantum leap accelorator leaping from body to body for 10 years. Three years in, I told her to move on, but she didn't. Seven years later, I leaped into Kathryn. The rest is history." Gillian nodded and handed a cookie to Scott. "He'll love you for that. Scott didn't have much of candy or cookies one Voyager. Rations were very short the last year. We basically came limping through the worm hole. We didn't even know it was there until it sucked us in. It was a smooth ride the whole way. It was like a hand, a big gentle hand, lifted us up and put us in orbit around Earth."

"Hey, Sam! Hello, Scotty! Where is Naomi?" Chakotay asked, stepping up to the coffee shop.

"She headed over to HQ. Would you care to join us? Gillian, this is my father in law, Commander Chakotay. Chakotay, this is Dr. Gillian Taylor. We worked on the Quantum Leap project before she got in to marine biology."

"I've read about you, Dr. Taylor. Pleasure to meet you. Sam, how many other time traveling friends do you have?" Al stepped out of the cafe

"Just one," he said, taking the cigar out of his mouth. "Hi Sam."

"AL! What are you doing here?"

"Saving your butt. After we said goodbye yesterday, we ran a few scans. Star Fleet is about to be attacked in about 15 minutes. Get Naomi out of HQ, Sam."

"Who are you talking to?" Gillian asked.

"Al, the hologram. Al, you remember Gillian. " Sam said tapping his comm badge. "Sam Beckett to Naomi Wildman-Beckett."

*Sam, bad time. I'm staring at 4 Admirals and they aren't happy.*

"Yeah, well they'll be less happy if they don't raise the main shield grid in about 15 minutes. Al says that Earth is about to get a major attack."

*Okay, thanks. We'll work on it. Naomi out.* Al frowned at Sam for a moment.

"Tell Chakotay to bring Scotty back to Naomi, Sam."

"Why?"

"DO IT NOW!"

"Chakotay, bring Scott to Naomi." Chakotay nodded and lifted the baby out of the high chair. Blue light surrounded his and Dr. Sam Beckett leaped.

When he opened his eyes, he was standing in the acceleration chamber. Donna, Al and Tina were waiting. He looked down at his clothes. Sam was wearing the white suit he had when he first leaped.

"What happened? Why am I here?"

"Sam, you completed your mission. You saved Star Fleet, Naomi, and a few million people. Ziggy thinks you stayed there so long was because you had to build up a certain amount of trust from Naomi and the Admirals so they would beleive you and raise the sheild grid." Sam sank against the wall and slowly to the floor.

"What about Naomi and Scott?" White light pulsed through out the room, and Naomi appeared, holding 3 year old Scott. "Naomi?" Sam whispered.

"Tom, we did it! Get Ziggy and let her know she did it," Naomie said to Tom, who was her hologram. Naomi knelt down into Sam's arms. "Sam Beckett, if you ever leave me like that again, I swear I'll-" Sam pulled her into a kiss. When he let go for air, she smiled up at him.

"How long-"

"Two and a half years, Sam. It took us 6 months to find Ziggy, and another two years to unscramble the data and find where she leaped you to. We had one shot to leap here, and we may not get back, but I had to find you." Sam held her tightly.

"Ziggy, can you leap us back?"

"Uh, Sam, Ziggy is completely fried and all the data is totally scrambled. Looks like your trapped here."

"What happened to the spikes, Naomi?" Donna asked softly, running her fingers over Scott's forhead.

"Dermal regenerator. We had to look human if there was a chance we'd be stuck here. Are we stuck here, Sam?" Sam touched her face and nodded lightly. "Tom, tell my mother what happened, and that I love her. Tell them all we're okay." Scott looked at Sam hard.

"Mama, is this the man from the picture?"

"Yeah, Scotty, this is your Daddy." Sam reached for the boy, but he held tight to Naomi. "Its okay, Scott. He loves you and would never hurt you. He missed you a lot, Scott."

"You're Daddy?" Sam nodded and Scott launched himself into Sam's arms.

"Sam, you still have the apartment upstairs. Why don't you take them home and get some sleep. Tomorrow we can work on Ziggy."

"How about next week? I need to spend some time with Naomi and Scott." Al nodded.

"Good to see you again, Naomi."

"You too, Ass." Al and Naomi shared a light laugh and she left with Sam and Scott.

"So this is your apartment?" Naomi asked, sitting on the couch of his old place. "Its nice. Not too different from Tom's holoprograms." Sam raised an eyebrow.

"Do you see any dancing girls, or Captain Proton?" Naomi laughed. Scott dug in Naomi's pack and got his blocks out and sat at the kitchen table. "Tell me about what happened?"

"After the attack was over, I went back to the apartment. Chakotay was there with Scott. He said you were talking to Al after you contacted me, and you said to get Scott back to me, and you disappeared in blue and white light. He thought you'd been beamed up. But with Al there, I had a theory that you leaped. Starfleet spent over a year looking for you, but after that, they declared you as being missing in asction, presumed dead. Tom and I had already found Ziggy and begun work. We decided to keep going until we finished. I wasn't going to loose you again. Tom wanted to send me a few months after your arrival so Ziggy wouldn't get fried, but I had no idea where youd be then. We put in a Time Compass and Map into Ziggy so we could go to an exact point in time, and I set it to 5 minutes after you leaped here." Sam wrapped his arms around Naomi and settled back on the couch. "It was a hard two years, Sam."

"I'm sorry," he whispered. "We're here together now, and no one can leap us because Ziggy is fried, and no one is in the acceleration chamber." A white port opened and Tom Paris stepped out.

"Naomi," he called. Naomi turned to see him standing over her. She jumped. "Sorry. Hi Sam."

"What is it, Naomi?"

"Tom says hi."

"Hi Tom. Like the place?"

"Tell him I love it! Its so 20th Century!" Naomi rolled her eyes. "I have the specs on how to fix Ziggy, but you have 6 days instead of 6 months. They're going to shut it down. If they do that, you'll never meet Sam, and Scott won't be born, your mother'll die when you're 7, and all that."

"Sam, we have to go back and work on Ziggy, now!" Naomi lifted Scott onto her hip and headed towards the door with Sam a step behind her.

Sam, Al, Tina, Gushi, and Scott stood with the rest of the team and listened to Naomi repeat what Tom said.

"Scott, I want you to talk to Ziggy and tell me when she sounds normal. When you get tired, your bed in the corner. Sam, you know Ziggy like the back of your hand, so you and I will work in the chamber with Scott and rebuild the circuts that are blown out. Al, stay out here and Tom will get onto your brain waves and tell you exactly what is wrong and how to fix it. Tina, help Al. Gushi, make sure that the time circuts don't activate. If they do, tell us to get out of the chamber or we'll leap and have no way to know when or where. When we're doen, I'll give you the time and date to program them to, and we'll leap to Ziggy in 2399. Do NOT program it until I say, or we'll leap too soon, and It'll malfunction. Everyone, let's do it."

Samantha, Chakotay, Kathryn, Harry, and B'Elanna stood around as Tom gave in detail what to do. It had been nearly five days and they should be leaping soon. Ziggy blinked on and Tom, Naomi, Sam, and Scott stepped out of the acceleration chamber.

"Naomi," Samantha whispered, hugging her daughter. "Do you know that you leaped four months ago? When you leaped, Ziggy was fried, and Tom had to fix her to get you back. He found out that the program was shut down a few days after the leap and you had that long to get home."

"I know, Mom. But we're home. How are Luke and Becky?"

"They're getting married. B'Elanna and Harry are pretty happy about it."

"Hello, Kathryn," Sam said hugging his friends.

"Sam Beckett, I swear, if you leap again-" she warned.

"I know, Naomi already gave me that speech."

"Daddy?" Scott called from Naomi's arms. Sam lifted him up.

"Yes?"

"Now that your home, can I have a baby brother?" The group laughed.

"Oh, boy........"
