Buffy and Xander walk in the graveyard while Xander discusses the necklace he got for Cordelia and Buffy pretends to care. He goes into talking about him and Cordy's relationship while they are approached by a vampire. Buffy stakes the vamp and turns him to dust the two walk away.
The next day at school, Cordelia is confronted by her Cordettes. They want to know why in the worl she is going out with such a loser. The bell rings and Willow talks about Oz to Buffy and Amy and Buffy reveals that she hates Valentine's day a lot. At the end of that class the stidents stand in line handing in thier homework. Amy doesn't give the teacher her homework but instead she just gives the teacher a deep glare. The teacher nods and smiles thinking that she just recieved Amy's homework but it was nothing but air. Xander watches in amazement.
Buffy, Willow, Giles, and Ms. Calender meet up and they soon leave to let Giles and Jenny be alone. Giles warns Buffy to stay clear of Angelus for he has unusual traditions for feeding on Valentine's Day. Meanwhile the cooky bunch is celebrating V-day in thier own special way. Spike gives Dru a necklace and Angel gives her a fresh human heart. Spike watches in jealousy realizing he can't do much because of his cripple.
The gang attends the Valentine's dance except for Buffy. Willow watched Oz and the dingoes play while Cordy adn her gang stand together in a little circle. Xander works up the courage to give his gift to Cordelia. He goes up to her and gives her the heart pendant. She dumps him right befor eher measly little than you. He walks off feeling as if his heart was ripped to shreds. Buffy also recieves a present that night, a dozen roses. It is sent anonymously with a not ethat says "SOON" but she knows who is is from.
The next day Xander still goes to school and has to walk by the Cordelia gang. Her friends make fun of him her neither going along or objecting. He tries to tell Buffy the pain of the breakup but she is attentive to Giles, telling him of the present from Angel. His eye is caught on Amy whom he confronts about her witchery. He blackmails her saying that if she doesn't do a spell for him he'll tell everyone of her witchcraft. He needs something of Cordelia's for the love spell so he asks for the necklace back. She says she needs to go get it from her locker but she secretly removes it from her neck.
Buffy shows Giles the note. That night Xander and Amy get together to do the spell. She does the incantation while Xander struts a paint job and holds a candle. He goes up to Cordelia figuring that she will love him but it is exactly the opposite. He walks off feeling ripped off and meets up with Buffy in the library. She is about to kiss him just as Amy walks in and interupts them. She says she needs to talk to Xander but she really comes onto him. Xander realizes that there is something fishy going on so he gets away just before a girl asks him out. He rushes to his own home where he feels he might actually be safe. But, just then Willow appears in a nightshirt and she begins to suck on his earlobe. He jets off leaving a confused Willow.
The next day of school Xander walks down the hall while being admired by all of the females and mad at by all the males. He goes to the library to tell Giles about what happened, Giles is really angry about what Xander did. Ms. Calendar comes in to talk to Giles but is attracted to Xander. Giles takes Jenny away in hopes of getting help. Xander locks the library door but Buffy appears in an eensy-weensy bathrobe. She tells him that he can undress her but he says no because he knows that she is under a spell. Amy arrives saying that she needs to talkt to Xander and then she herself comes onto Xander. Buffy and Amy fight and Amy turns Buffy into a rat.
Xander and Giles search for Buffy the rat and Oz hits Xander in the face aggressing his anger for Xander because Willow was crying over him. Giles tells Xander to go away making Xander feel like a loser. Oz goes and searches for Buffy. Xander finds Cordelia being attacked by all of the gilrs that once hated him yelling at OCrdy for being mean to Xander. Xander saves her and the two run off together to find another group of mad girls led my Willow. The two mobs conjoin and follow Cordelia and Xander to Buffy's house where they opt for sancuary. Cordelia gets some badaids and comes downstairs only to find Joyce coming onto Xander. Cordelia thorws Joyce outside telling her to sty away from my boyfriend adding former to the end.
Joyce breaks the window so the two run upto Buffy's room. There thye ifnd the last person on Earth thye wanted to see. Angel throws Xander to the ground from Buffy's window. Just as the two fight Xander is surpisingly saved by Drucilla who also has the hots for him. She almosts truns Xander into a vampire but the angry mob of girls show up. Cordelia saves Xander and the two run to Buffy's basement. Xander tells Cordelia about how the spell was meant for her and just then the girls break down the door with their ax and are about to kill them both.
Giles and Amy break the spell just as Oz is searching for Buffy. Oz finds Buffy in human form without clothes so he goes to get her some. The spell is undone just in the nick of time to save Xander and Cordelia and they make up the excuse of a scavenger hunt for the explanation of all of them there.
The next morning everything is back to normal. Cordelia goes up to her group and tells Harmony how rude she was to Xander and that she is a sheep because she follows everyone around. Cordelia walks off with Xander in shock realizing what she just did, Xander tells her its okay.
