The Two Rays |
Ray Vecchio played
by David Marciano and Stanley Raymond Kowalski, played by
Callum Keith Rennie, are Fraser's partners in Due South. Ray
Vecchio is Fraser's original partner in Seasons 1 and 2 but he goes
undercover with the mob in the last season of the series. He
is replaced by Stanley Raymond Kowalski who is pretending to be Ray
Vecchio while the real Ray Vecchio is undercover. Stan
Kowalski (his father admired Marlon Brando) says in the episode
"Eclipse" that he goes by the name Ray. I'll, therefore, refer
to him as Ray K and to the real Ray Vecchio as Ray V. Ray Vecchio Ray V thinks of himself as a ladies man but from what we see in the series he does not seem to have a lot of luck in this area. He is divorced from Angie, whom we see in the episodes "One Good Man" and "The Duel." Ray Kowalski Ray K is apparently still in love with his ex-wife, State's Attorney, Stella Kowalski. In "Strange Bedfellows" we find him following her around on the lookout for "lascivious acts." Due South was very fortunate indeed to be able to have had two such excellent actors in the the roles of Ray V and Ray K. David Marciano and Callum Keith Rennie brought humor, fine dramatic acting and endearing personalities to these roles. |
