Jesus Christ it's too late to be signing guestbooks and shit... but there must be a reason I am... I may steal your comments about "Cloudburst on Shingle Street," for what your copyright is worth... maybe I'll figure out how to give you credit if I do.

Meastros are pig-ugly, the Vanden Plas is only worth considering, Allegros are much better, much more original and Brtish-Leyland like with top hydra-gas suspension as standard. maybe they should have done an MG Allegro, but they already had the Allegro
quipe 1750 twin-carb, now that's really is a fast car!!

Andy - Good site. So far I've only looked at the Dolby stuff as I'm a big fan of his earlier stuff.
Have to say The Flat Earth and Screen Kiss are (in my opinion) the best two concecutive tracks on any album ever made.
Cheers

Hi Andy:
Thanks so much for clearing up the first floor plan of the Queen Vic. I never could figure out where Cindy was disappearing to the ladies' room to cheat during the Vic Quiz. (Where is the ladies' room?) Now I know. And I can see where the food area is
(I didn't know about the Dr. Who concept of space :) )
Also concerning the upstairs. The bedroom to the right of the bathroom; Lorraine and Joe occupied that room once. She came in, stepped down, and daylight was coming in from the right of the door as one stands just inside the room. That window on that w
ll would be a lot line window which is possible if The Vic is higher than No. 47 next door. (In New York, you can't have a lot line window, windows must have at least 4 feet air space.) Or, alternatively, maybe there is an airshaft between No. 47 and Th
Vic which allows for daylight.
I truly appreciate your site and the work that you do. I've tried many time to figure the layout of Walford, etc. and could not quite get my head around it. It took me ages to figure out the layout of the houses on the Square. For the longest, I couldn
t quite place Michelle's/Rachel's house on Victoria Road. Then on the day of the fire, you could see the Vic on fire from just outside Rachel's house.
Anyway, just want to say double, double thank you.
Doris

Plea for help from the US! I am a Ross Kemp fan who will soon be deprived of his on-screen presence (he's still on EE where I am but not for a lot longer). I'd very much love to see him in other roles, but it's unlikely I will ever get to see his other pr
jects over here. The only thing I can think to do is to ask some kind soul in the UK to videotape things for me (which I will convert to NTSC over here). I will happily pay a reasonable fee + the shipping for this. Or perhaps there are things from the US
ou may want, and we might trade (music, movies, TV, any other stuff). I'm open to suggestion. Any interested parties or kind souls taking pity on a sad fan, please email me and let's discuss. Thanks :-) :-)

Great site, might have something to add. Dot lived in the TOP flat of No.23 for a time in 1997, as well as the ground floor flat with Ethel.
And, a revelation about the layout of the Queen Vic...

RE: My last entry: AGH!!! I can't add!!! If Michelle was 18 in 1987 then she would have been 20 in 1989 thus born in 1969... Unless she aged the same way as Ian :^) Another assumed birthday is Ethel's, which is definitely February 19th but year uncertain
(originally though 1920 but could be before then...)
And btw Ricky and Bianca lived in the downstairs flat at No 43 between 1996-97, the era when the living room was painted gold and when those blue and yellow curtains fitted in with the decor...

Some birthdates:
Michelle was born in 1968 (she celebrated her 18th in 1987 - I remember her and Sharon drinking champagne in Lofty's flat)
Arthur was born in 1943 (on UK Gold it showed his 50th birthday in the Vic, the episode was from 1993)
I also recall off hand Wicksy's birthday was some time in mid-July (same date as Kathy's rape by Willmott Brown), and he was either born in 1964/5?
I also think Sharon's was in October but I may be wrong with that. Another one I am half certain about is Kelvin Carpenter's... early January 1968.

Nice website Andy.
A bit of info for you - Bianca's shop was actually the one beside Mama's Pizza. It was c. Christmas 1998 when she took possession (that's why Ricky and Teresa were involved in the Christmas Tree scam), and B wanted her own shop, and I think she got the k
ys. But after that the shop was never mentioned again. Bit of a waste of money that...
And Naima & Saeed, Sue & Ali (and baby Ali), and Mark, Steve Elliot et al. lived in the upstairs flats at No.47; it is assumed Alan McIntyre still lived downstairs until the mid 1990s.
Colm :^)

The answer to Bill's question is :
"It's not TMDR, it's Alvin Lucier. He did a very cool installation at Winrock
Shipping Center in Albuquerque many years ago called "Music On A Long Thin
Wire". It was basically just a long wire stretched taut across a stage with
the vibrations amplfied and (in this case) played live over the local college
station for several days running.
"I Am Sitting In A Room" is out on CD courtesy of Lovely Music:

My thanks to Lazlo Nibble from Alloy for the info.

Do you know anything about an expiremental
recording that (I think at least) Dolby
did called "I am sitting in a room"? I
heard it a couple of times on a university
radio station in the mid-80s. It is a
recording of him reading a short paragraph.
Then the recording was replayed into the
room and re-recorded and the process was
repeated over and over. The sound changes
from a human voice to a distorted voice to
various bell and glass-like ringing sounds
as the various natural harmonics are picked
up and reinforced by the process.
Thanks,
Bill

Andy. thanks so much for your beautiful site. I have been trying to figure out the lay of the land for some time myself. One particular curiosity is the floor plan of the VIC upstairs. And exactly where is the lady's/men's room downstairs that is perio
ically referred to by the VIC customers (Ian/Cindy the day they cheated on the pub quiz). Secondly, is there a ground plan of Walford. I can just faintly see it inthe background when I access the bbc website, eastenders (the Walford cam). Do you have on

Greetings from Northeast Missouri, USA
Andy, I'm a great fan of EE shown here 3 times a day with an omnibus showing on Saturdays. We are at the point where the gang has gone to Brighton and all sorts of things are starting to hit the proverbial fan. Anyhow - thanks so much for the site. It
s incredibly informative and entertaining. I hope this gets to you. I'm rather new at this and still can't quite believe I might actually be "conversing" with someone in the UK. Again, thanks.
Regards and keep up the excellent work.
