Its good news that someone is at last about to make a film of the Lord of the Rings. Only another 5 months to go. Yes there was one in the late 70's early 80's part animated. John Hurt played Aragon and Anette Crosbie played Galadriel.
I'm very happy that Sir Ian McKellan is to Gandalf - he's an excellent actor and can play many different characters - I hope they give very busy eyebrows.
If I could make one suggestion though - listen to the BBC Radio 4's adaptation of tLotR. (Sir) Michel Horden was perfect as Gandalf. He was the right mix of grumpy, angry and wise old man - even though Wizards were not human.
Ian Holm played Frodo now he's playing Bilbo.
