Chapter Three

(A few days later) Gillian is sitting alone at the bar at SOS. Gillian was hoping to see Ryan, but so far he was a no show. She wondered if was avoiding her on purpose. Just then Ryan walked out of the back room and started talking to Hayley. She walked over to them "Hey guys"

Ryan looked at Gillian "Gillian, I'm glad your here"

Gillian looked surprised "You are?"

"Yeah, I need to talk to you about something."

Hayley exused herself and Ryan led Gillian into the back room.

"Did I do something wrong?" Gillian asked

Ryan smiled and shook his head no "No not you"

Gillian groaned "Ryan if your going to talk about what a bad person you are or sit here and rip on yourself again then I really don't want to hear it."

Ryan crossed his arms across his chest "That's not it either." Gillian relaxed as Ryan continues "I've been thinking alot lately about what we talked about at the hospital."

Gillian could bearly contain her excitment "You did?"

"Yes and I'm sick of moping around and I'm sick of dwelling in the past. It's time we look toward the future."

"We?" Gillian questioned

"Yes, you and me" Both Gillian and Ryan smiled "I want to try again Gillian." Ryan paused "But it's not going to be easy. We've both been to hell and back and we aren't going to be able to forget that."

Gillian's face drew a blank "Well what do you suggest?"

"I say we start over, sort of. I mean we got married without knowing much about each other. We still hardly know one another. I want us to start as if we've on a first date. No major commitments, no promises or guarntees. We are just out to have some fun and get to know each other. So what do you say?"

Gillian's eyes were filled with questions "I say why the sudden trun around?"

"Like I said before, I've been feeling sorry for myself long enough. It's time I snap out of it and look toward moving on completely. Braden hurt me, but I can't sit and dwell on it forever."

Gillian leaped into Ryan's arms "Oh Ryan I'm so happy."

Ryan stroked Gillian's hair "I have too, but remember I can't promise you anything. I just want to...." Gillian interputted him "have fun, I got it." They both smiled

Ryan laughed "Good, so what do you say we start off with dinner tomorrow night at the Valley Inn?"

"How about tonight?" Gillian asked very anxious to get things started with Ryan.

Ryan smiled "I have to work tonight, but I can get Hayley and Mateo to cover for me tomorrow."

"Tomorrow night it is then."

"I'll be by to pick you up, say 7:00?"

"Sounds like a plan" Gillian said extending her hand to Ryan who took it and they shook on it.

(The next night)

Gillian was laying on the couch all wrapped up in blankets, an icepack on her forehead, and a theremometer in her mouth. She pulled the theremometer out of her mouth "101" she read "This can't be happening" she said outloud. "Shut, I was hoping I'd be feeling better by now" She heard the doorbell and got off the couch. She looked at herself in the mirror. She was wearing sweat pants and no makeup and her hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail. She opened the door to find Ryan standing with a single daisy wearing khakis and a white polo shirt that tightly gribbed his every muscle. Ryan looked at Gillian and raised his eyebrows, Gillian tried to smile but ran off covering her mouth. She returned a few mintues later "Ryan I'm dying" She said flopping down on the couch.

Ryan shot Gillian a sympathetic look "What's the matter honey?"

"My head is spinning round and round, I'm hot and cold all over and I think I'm going to throw up every 2 seconds. I broke my old record, I can now get to the bathroom in 6 seconds"

Ryan smiled "You must have the flu. But then why didn't you just call and tell me you were sick? We could have went out tomorrow or whenever you were feeling better?"

"Cuz I thought I'd feel better and I didn't want to ruin our evening."

Ryan sat down on the end of the couch "Gillian you wouldn't have ruined the evening if you were sick. I would have understood."

Gillian smiled "I know, but I guess secretly I wanted to spend the evening with you."

"Well ask and you shall recieve" Ryan said in a deep voice

Gillian smiled again "It's ok, you can go home or go to work. I'll be fine."

"Nope, Doctor Lavery has checked in and he's not going anywhere."

************

(A little later)

Ryan had helped Gillian get comfortable on the couch. He brought her a washcloth for her forehead, some 7-UP and dry toast, and even gave her some medicine to help her stomach. He was now reading her the fairytale about the Princess and the Pea to help her fall asleep. ..."The End"

Ryan glanced over and noticed Gillian had already fallen asleep. He pulled the blanket up to her chin, gently kissed her forehead, and left the daisy on the table with a little note telling her he hoped she felt better soon. "Good night Gillian." he wispered and quietly turned out the lights and walked out of Wildwind.
