Lucille Ball

Lucille Desiree Ball was one of America's most popular actresses. She was born on Sunday Aug. 6, 1911 on Stewart Steet in Jamestown, New York in her grandparents apartment. Lucille didn't actually live in Jamestown, but in a small town called Celeron which was only a few miles away. Lucille moved to Hollywood in the early 1930's. She made her film debut in 1933 in a Columbia picture called Roman Scandals, starring Eddie Cantor. Durring 1933-1938, Lucille had many different bit parts.

Lucille was hired by RKO to star in the 1940 muciscal "Too Many Girls" where she met her future husband Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha III. It wasn't love at first sight, more like five minutes. They eloped on November 30, 1940, Lucille was 28 and Desi was 23.

In 1946 CBS asked Lucille to star in the radio show My Favorite Husband. Since they led a hectic life, their marriage was falling apart. Then in 1949, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz remarried, due to personal problems. For Lucille and Desi to spend time together, the pair created I Love Lucy (1951-57), and one of the largest production studios ever!

After all 6 seansons of ILL and after "The Lucy Desi Comedy Hour," Lucille and Desi devorced in 1960. :-( Lucy then married Gary Morton and in 1962 she bought Desi's share of Desilu. With this, she created The Lucy Show, 1962, Here's Lucy, in 1968, which aired until 1974, when Lucille decided to retire after 23 years of show business. In 1986, Lucille tried to make a come back with "Life With Lucy," but failed after only 13 episodes.

On April 26, 1989, Lucille Ball died of a heart attack. (probably from smoking)
