Jesse and Robert were still laughing as they pulled into the driveway of the Quest estate. Then Robert reached into the pocket of his jacket.
"Hey, Jesse. You remember Viper, don't you?" He pulled a small rubber snake out of his pocket.
"You did not! I cannot believe you kept that stupid little snake! Get that hideous thing away from me, Robert, or I swear you will NOT live to regret it!"
"Shhh. You'll hurt Viper's feelings." He stroked it's head then put it back in his pocket as they came to a stop.
"Just come on, Robert. I want you to meet some friends of mine." They got out and went to the main building.
"Big house."
"I know. It's really comfy, too, if you get passed all the air-heads inside." They laughed as they entered the house. Jesse stepped back just in time to avoid being run over by a teenage brunette running from a young dark-skinned boy.
"Hadji! Stop tickling me!" They fell to the floor of the living room as he caught her.
"Uncle, Jenny! Say uncle!"
"Never! Hahahahaha!!!! Stop it!!!" Jesse and Robert laughed from the doorway to the living room. Hadji stopped to catch his breath and looked up at them.
"Hello, Jesse. I see you have brought a friend with you." Jesse cleared her throat to stop from laughing at her two friends giggling on the living room floor.
"Guys, this is Robert, he was my brother's best friend when he was little." Jenny and Hadji started helping eachother to their feet. Jenny looked up at Robert.
"He's cute."
"Nothing like an open household to degrade the esteem of one you're in a relationship with." Jenny laughed.
"Hadji, you know that if I hadn't said it now then Jonny would've invaded my thoughts and said it anyway." Robert had a strange look. Jesse explained.
"Jonny is Jenny's twin, which tells you her name. Because they're twins they have a mental link, which they usually use to embarrass either eachother or those around them. The one tickling Jenny is Hadji. He's a good friend of mine and Jenny's boyfriend."
"Ah. Gotcha."
"Speaking of Jonny, where is he?"
"Right here, ba-"
"Call me babe and die, Quest."
"by. Hey, you said babe. You never said anything about baby." Jesse giggled.
"Whatever, Quest. Jonny, this is Robert, he's the one I was talking to on the phone. Robert, this is Jonny Quest, my boyfriend."
"Boyfriend?!"
"Yeah. Is something wrong, Robert?"
"Uhh..no, no. I guess the words 'my boyfriend' coming from the mouth of Jesse Bannon sort of cought me by surprise." Jesse laughed.
"It's not that strange, Robert. Oh well. Hey, I was just thinking. Why don't we all go to light house and play some VR?"
"Aren't you the least bit at all interested in introducing Robert to me and Jonny's dad?"
"Jenny, Hadji was within a foot of you for more than a minute, and he's still alive. That pretty much tells me that Dr. Quest isn't here. And Jonny called me baby and is still breathing, so that tells me that my dad isn't here, either."
"Good point." Jenny slapped away Hadji's hand that was threatening to tickle her. "Well, let's go VR." They headed towards the light house, Robert and Jonny taking up the rear. Robert came up close to Jonny.
"You may have her now, Bleach-head, but you won't for very long. She should've been mine back then, but Jacob stopped me. You won't get the chance." Jonny stopped for a second, then caught back up his pace.
*Jenny,* he thought, *did you hear that?*
*I sure did, Jonny. I knew there was something funny about that guy. You've got to tell Jesse about it.*
*I can't. She'll just think I'm making it up. Probably even fuss at me about being over-protective. He was her brother's best friend, Jenny. Jess'll never believe.*
*Alright, Jonny. But at the first sign of trouble you have to do something.*
*Don't worry, Jenny. I'm not letting that jerk put his paws anywhere near her.*
