PART III

Blake house

Stephano watched Carrie through a monitor as she walked into the secret room. She reminded him so much of Marlena…..so beautiful, so strong, so good. It would be interesting to see if she would triumph over Sami. Stephano softly laughed to himself. Sami, she was very manipulative. If Kristen had half of her cunningness, she wouldn't have lost John. He was actually very proud of Sami, and what made him even happier about the situation was that she was a Brady. All Bradys were supposed to be good and worthy, now he had proof that they aren't all as high and mighty as they liked everyone to think. In fact, Sami seemed more like a DiMera than a Brady, it would be nice to have a daughter who was worthy of him…..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Secret Room

Carrie could barely contain her excitement, as she flipped to different rooms in the house. This was such a brilliant plan! Carrie couldn't believe that Susan had come up with the idea. When Carrie flipped to the living room again, there sat Austin and Will alone. Sami and Lucas had disappeared off somewhere--now was her chance to see what they were up to.

She found Lucas and Sami making their way up to her dad's room, and they were in a feverish discussion..

"Sami," began Lucas, "what do you mean, we've run into a problem, I thought everything was going smoothly."

"SSHH…not so loud, Lucas. There's no need to get excited, I will deal with the situation. It's Eric, he figured things out."

Carrie was frantically thinking to herself--Eric, figured it out, what out? That Sami doesn't really have amnesia? 'Oh, I wish I knew what they were talking about,' Carrie said to herself.

"WHAT? Eric, knows??? Oh, Sami, that's great, that's just wonderful. Now, I'll never get my chance."

Chance? Chance for what? Carrie's mind was racing a mile a minute. If only they would be more explicit. If only they would come right out and say something that couldn't be taken one way or the other. Carrie didn't have to wait long.

"Don't worry, Lucas, I have my little goody-goody sister right where I want her, and Austin is starting to believe that she and Mike are a couple. Everything is going according to plan. I've already put a call into Eric's old roommate in Colorado to see exactly what he's been hiding, and once I find out, I'll be sure to use it against him so he wouldn't dare tell anyone that I'm faking my amnesia.

Carrie's stomache did a flip flop. She stared unbelievably at the monitor and the now empty corridor that Sami and Lucas had been in.

"That bitch!! Oh, Sami, you just dug your own grave. " Carrie felt sick to her stomach and ran into the bathroom, beginning to cry hysterically as the truth of Sami's evil character hit her. She had to tell Austin.

Just outside the door to the secret room, Diane, the maid was cleaning up. She noticed the door to the secret room was open.

"This horrible room, I can't believe that Kristen hasn't gotten it sealed, but instead just leaves it open." She peered into the room to make sure that nobody was in it and promptly shut and locked the door. "Ooh, just being down here gives me the willies."

Carrie collected herself and washed her tear stained cheeks with cold water. Now to do what she had been waiting months to do, to give Sami what was coming to her. Carrie walked out of the bathroom and towards the door-----

"Oh, no, no, no," Carrie began to cry as she spotted the locked door and banged on it---"please no."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eric was standing in front of the door to Kristen's house. So much had happened not only in his life in Colorado, but also in Salem. He found himself not even wanting to go into the house just yet, so instead he walked around to the garden to think.

In all actuality, he would have come home a long time ago…it was just that he wasn't really in Colorado for the past year, so couldn't. He had left Colorado one stormy night with nothing but the clothes on his back, he had also left behind Her. Eric shook his head, that was over a year ago, and it was no use thinking about her anymore, he had gone back to Colorado to look for her, but she was gone. He had driven her away with his desertion. Only his roommate knew that he had been in Montana His roommate, Jake, was the one person that would still look him in the face after what he had done. Jake forwarded his mail and his calls, so it was simple to fool his family. Over the past year everyone had been so busy, no one had come to see him and so they didn't know he had left.

He had had to leave Colorado. The pain and knowing of what he had done was too great. Now he finally felt strong enough to return to Salem, just to find everyone's lives in shambles. At least he could do something right--he could make it right between Austin and Carrie. Eric took a deep breath and went into the house.

THE PENTHOUSE

"Dooty-doo, humpty humm, I love my Elvis's son," Susan sang as she twirled around with Lisa Marie in her arms. "Lisa Marie, can you keep a secret? I have a feelin' that Elvis is gonna be in Salem real soon. Yes, sir, I do." Susan walked over to the mirror and sat down in front of it. "And look how purty I am now," Susan gave a big grin with her eyes almost squinted shut. "Ya know, one good thang came out of that mean ole' Kristan. I lost some weight and got a new hairdoo---I think Elvis is gonna be so happy…." (Getting the dreaming look in her eyes once again, Susan begins to imagine herself with Elvis on the night that little Elvis was conceived).

Elvis Prestly music was being played in the background and she was in a white gown with people in white all around her, and Elvis, just telling her to relax. She new it was Elvis because of the way he talked and because he was wearing a fancy white outfit with a nametag that said E. Prestly; MD. She had started to ask him what MD meant, but then she felt a prick on her arm and suddenly had gotten very tired. She had fallen asleep with "Elvis"stroking her hair. When she had awakened, she was in a room by herself, and someone was telling her she going to be a mamma.

Oh, she was so proud when she found out she was going to have the King's baby--so proud.

The phone rang, pulling Susan out of her dreamy state.

"Hello, Dr. Marlena Evan's house,"

"Susan, it's Marlena, I just wanted to check and see how you were doing."

"Oh, I couldn' be better, Dr. Evans. Plus I did somethin' real good today, I helped someone with a problem. But I don't want to tell you about it just yet, it's gotta be a sur-prise. But, it's gonna make you real happy too."

"Oh, Susan, that's very nice of you. I was wondering if Carrie has called. I'm at the hospital right now, and I knew she was going to see Roman, but I haven't heard from her in awhile and I just wanted to check ans see how she was doing."

(Susan's eyes get really big-and she has this oh-no look on her face.)

"No, Dr. Evans, I haven't heard from her. I saw her this morning when I was exercisin' but that was hours ago." Susan thinks to herself --Oh, no, what if Kristan trapped her in the secret room?!

"Okay, she must be with Mike or something, I'll call around. Thank you, Susan."

"Goodbye, Dr. Evans."

Susan turns towards Lisa Marie ,"Oh, no Lisa Marie, what if something happened to that nice Carrie. What am I gonna do? She said that she would call me at 3:00 and let me know if my good plan worked " Susan looked at the clock. It read 5:00.

PART IV

A NEW DAY IN SALEM

….at the hospital……..

Jamie looked at her charts again. It was so nice to be back at Salem and doing what she loved best. In fact, she was shocked at how quickly she was able to start work. It only took a day, and she began. Well, it was just as well, she liked being busy, that way she didn't have to think about anything like Colorado or Salem and Sami before she left. That had been hell, turning against Sami, but enough was enough, and she had had to tell Carrie and Austin the truth. Sami had never talked to her since then, and she didn't even know how she was--her mom had told her she had been in an accident, but now she had amnesia and couldn't remember anything over the past 4 years. Jamie had actually looked up Sami's chart to look at her progress and how she was doing, she was shocked when she didn't find Sami's chart under Brady, but instead Reed. What was that all about? She looked at the home address given and then looked up Austin's file and Will's, all three were under the same home adress--what in the world was going on? Jamie had assumed that Carrie and Austin would now be married. She would have to find out about that later. As she looked at Sami's chart, she noticed that Sami had the rarest blood type there was, "If Sami knew how much her blood was worth she'd probably pump it out of her and Will--oh, I guess Will's got Autin's blood type." Jamie flipped through the charts, "Wait a minute, what is going on, Will can't possibly have this blood type if Sami and Austin are the parents! What's going on here?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carrie's apartment

"Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!" Eric shot upright from the couch, he had had another nightmare about the girl. He had been driving in a storm at night time. It was raining so hard he could barely see in front of him. He saw her standing on the side of the road and he felt the tires begin to hydroplane……and her screams and the sound and feel of a body being ran over……………………

Eric shook his head, trying to clear it. No, he was in Salem now, he didn't have to have nightmares anymore. It wasn't his fault, but Eric couldn't stop the tears that came down as he put his head between his knees, hands clasped behind his head and said, "No, no, no."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Austin's apartment

Sami could barely contain her excitement as she listened to Jake's story about her brother. There was no way Eric would tell Carrie now about the fake amnesia, not with what she was getting on Eric now. Sami had convinced Jake to tell her Eric's secret because according to her, he (Eric) couldn't bring himself to tell her and she loved her brother no matter what, and she only wanted to help. Eric needed help, he just didn't know how to ask for it. Jake mistook Sami's desperation for knowing as concern for Eric and proceeded to tell her the entirety of it, right up to the court's ruling.

As Sami hung up the phone she smiled to herself and said, "Well, Sami, looks like you are going to win after all.

Part V

THE SECRET ROOM

Carrie awoke with a start. At some point she had exhausted herself from yelling and pounding on the door. She didn't know what time she finally fell asleep, but she was pretty certain that it was already the next moring. Carrie's on prayer was Susan, she needed Susan to help her. She needed to get out of this prison and tell Austin all of the dispicable things that Sami was doing, before it was too late.

------------------------------------------------------------

Outside Dimansion

Suzanne had planned out her strategy all night long. She needed to get into the cellar and help Carrie, but she had some absurd fear that Stephano was still lurking about. She had dressed all in black, with a black ski mask over her head, in order not to be seen. Unfortunately Susan had not taken into account that her rescue mission was taking place during the daytime, and black only made her stick out like a sore thumb (not to mention the black ski mask).

"Yessirree, I'm gonna rescue Carrie Brady and be a big hero. I only hope that Kristan and Mr. Stephano DiMira haven't gotten to her. And then she can be with that big strong Austan." Susan quickly turned one way and then the other.

"I just gotta be careful," Susan said as she ducked down and started crawling through the bushes," and not be seen by none of them evil people."

Sadly with all of the extreme measures that Susan was going through, she was too involved too notice the figure standing only a few feet away. The figure that was softly laughing to himself while saying, "Brava, Susan, brava."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

University Hospital

Jamie could not believe her discovery earlier that morning. Unbeknowest to anyone, Will was Sami and LUCAS's baby. Did Sami know and was she keeping it a secret, or was she innocent of such treachery? There was no way for Jamie to let anyone know that she was aware of this secret, if she did, she could stand to lose her new position here at the hospital.

"Oh, why do I always find myself in some sort of predicament when Sami is involved?" Jamie looked around the hospital to see Mike Horton striding towards her.

"Jamie, I'm so glad that it worked out for you."

"Oh, Dr. Horton, I think your wonderful recommendation had something to do with it." Jamie studied Mike while they conversed. He was a very good looking man. Beautiful blue eyes, nice build and he seemed to be a genuine guy. He reminded her very much of another man in her life. Jamie blinked hard in order to clear her mind. "Dr. Horton, while I have you here I wanted to ask you about patient doctor confidentiality. If a nurse going over some charts noticed a discrepancy in blood types of the parents and that of the child. Do they say anything?

Mike looked at Jamie questioningly, "Well of course they do, you're talking about paternity rights, and the try parent may not know that they even have a child. Why do you ask?

"Oh, I was just curious, I was reading about two parents that it happened to and I was wondering if the doctor has a right to say anything. Well, I better be off. Talk to you later." Jamie walked away quickly, leaving Mike to stare after her. He shook his head and still a little curious, he walked over to the records department. "Excuse me, Miss, but was there a nurse here just checking out an individual's chart?

"Yes, it was Jamie, she was looking up the Reed family's chart, Austin, Sami and Will Reed."

Mike's eyes widened as he stared at the nurse.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Secret Room

Carrie sat up abruptly. Was her mind playing tricks on her, or was there someone at the door? As she got up from the bed, the door unlatched and began to open. Carrie ran towards the door but then stopped dead in her tracks as she saw who her savior was.

"No, not you."

-----------------

Part VI

University Hospital

Mike looked at the charts again. This couldn't be right. How could Will not have either of his parent's blood types--unless…………….

Mike snapped the chart closed and leaned his head back, "unless, Austin isn't really Will's father." Mike knew what this would mean, it would mean an end to the link that Sami and Austin had and an entire new beginning for Austin and Carrie. That left him with no one.

Mike knew what he had to do though, he had to let Austin know right away, no matter what the consequences were to him. Perhaps this was just a computer glich, but Mike couldn't help but feel the sickening feeling in his stomach.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Carrie's Apartment

"I'll be right there! Hold on a second!" Eric wrapped the towel around him and went to the door. "What in the hell is so---" Sami stood on the other side of the doorway.

"Good morning, Eric, "Sami said with a smug look on her face. "I hope that you were a good brother and kept my little secret so far?"

"Lucky for you, Carrie never came home last night. I think that she might have stayed over with Dad or something, I haven't heard from her. Sami, I have every intention of telling Carrie the truth, unless you would prefer to do it first."

"Eric, I have no intention of telling anyone that I have my memory back, and you are not going to either."

"Who in the world do you think that you are? You barge in here, acting like you are on the top of the world and--"

"Eric, Eric, Eric, " Sami began as she sat down on the couch, putting her legs up on the coffee table," I've got secrets, but according to Jake, so do you."

Eric felt the blood drain away from his face. "What are you talking about?" he whispered.

------------------------------------------------------------------

THE SECRET ROOM

Carrie couldn't believe it, there stood Stephano in front of her with his arms crossed and a smile across his face.

"What are you doing here?"

Stephano laughed "Ahh, Carrie, is that any way to treat an old family friend? I just wanted to check up on you and see how you were doing in your new living quarters." Stephano looked around. "A bit cramped for my taste personally, but then again I'm not a Brady. The Brady's are used to small prisons."

"You sick animal, " Carrie spat. "You will get caught if you leave me in here. Someone knows I'm here, and they have to be on their way by now."

"Someone?" Stephano feigned surprise. "You wouldn't be talking about silly little Susan would you?" Carrie's eyes widened. "Susan has been taken care of."

Just then Stephano's stooge, Bart, came in pushing Susan who now had her hands tied behind her and a gag placed over her mouth.

"Oh, God, " Carrie whispered out loud, "Please no."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Sami smiled to herself as she got off the elevator, now that she didn't have to worry about Eric anymore, she felt so much better. Now she could concentrate on more important things, like changing Will's blood type in the computers.

"Sami! Sami! " Sami turned around to see Mike Horton striding towards her. Sami studied him. 'Too bad you're such a gentleman, Mike,' Sami thought to herself, 'otherwise, Carrie would have been yours long ago and I wouldn't have to worry about her and Austin.'

Sami put a sweet smile on her face, "Oh, hi, Mike, what's going on? Is it my dad?"

"No, actually it's about Will, Sami, I found some discrepancies in the charts, and I need to talk to you privately.

Sami couldn't stop the feeling of alarm that welled up inside of her. "What seems to be the problem?"

"SAMI!!!!!!!!!!!" Jamie ran up to the two and grabbed Sami in a great big bear hug. "Oh, Sami, I missed you so much." Sami looked at Jamie with surprise and shock. What was she doing here?

"Oh, you don't know me, I'm Jamie, we were best friends for years."

"Oh, Jamie, of course, Lucas told me all about you, Mike, could this wait, I want to talk to Jamie and learn all about us." Before Mike could say anything, Sami marched off arm in arm with Jamie.

Sami thought to herself, "Thank you Jamie for saving the day."
