ROSSLARE HARBOUR 1902

A new 11-span viaduct was built to connect the pier to the mainland

A new 11-span viaduct was built to connect the pier to the mainland, this viaduct had two railway lines on, and on the south side of the viaduct there was a pedestrian walkway, and on the other side a way for livestock to cross over to the pier, this led from the cattle yard on the mainland, (this area is now the new parking area for the artics going out on the ships). When the cattle got to the pier via the viaduct they went into the creep which ran under the pier, cattle were able to be loaded onto the ship, it ment there was no interfering with the loading and unloading of ships on the overhead quay wall.
