sings his own compositions
with insight and sincerity.
Fans cannot seem to get enough
of the talented singer.
The response to his debut album,
River of Blues, was so positive that the music company decided to
make another album -- Panda Xiong Tianping's demo
Heaven of Matches, Huo Chai
Tian Tang (¤õ®ã¤Ñ°ó).
And because this was only meant to be a demo tape,
the style is relaxed and there is no self-consciousness. Despite the fact
that there are only vocals and guitar, you cannot help but admire the technical
and artistic brillance that shines throughout this album. The simple guitar
brings out Panda's crisp clear voice beautifully, making listening a scintillating
experience.
Heaven of Matches is
based on Hans Christian Anderson's touching tale about a girl who sold
matchsticks on a cold windy night and died from the cold. For Panda, the
song has a greater significance. He wrote the song for his younger brother
who died in an accident this year. His brother, who supported him during
a dark period of countless rejections from the music companies, loved this
song and would make Panda play the song to him.
