[John Bennett Perry] [Mark Harmon] [Joanna Cassidy]
Many people fondly remember this action-packed series from ABC Television which ran in late 1979 to early 1980. It was about a Los Angeles Sheriff's Department search and rescue team called by the code name "240-Robert". The show was created by Rick Rosner, who also acted as executive producer and was the creator of "CHiPs".
240-Robert featured John Bennett Perry as Deputy Theodore Roosevelt Applegate, III, who went by the nickname "Trap". It also starred a young Mark Harmon as Deputy Dwayne Thibideaux, more often called "Thib". Joanna Cassidy rounded out the cast as Deputy Morgan Wainwright, the helicopter pilot of the unit.
After the first 13 episodes, Mark Harmon and Joanna Cassidy left the show (their contracts were up), and Stephan Burns and Pamela Hensley were brought in as Deputy Brett Cueva and Deputy Sandy Harper, who took over as the chopper pilot. John Bennett Perry remained as Trap. Only three episodes were filmed with this group, and ABC pulled the plug due to poor ratings.
Even though only 16 episodes in all were filmed, 240-Robert remains one of the most remembered action/emergency films of the era, along with "Emergency!" and "Adam-12".
Where are they now?
You can see John Bennett Perry in his most recent films, "George of the Jungle" and "Fools Rush In", now available in video stores everywhere.
Mark Harmon was on the cast of Chicago Hope.
Unfortuanately, Stephan Burns (Brett Cueva) passed away on February 22, 1990 (AIDS).
