Lion-O was only 12 years old when his home planet was destroyed ("The Time Capsule"). His Father, Claudus,
was lord of the Thundercats before him ("Return to Thundera"). Most of Lion-O's upbringing prior to Thundera's
destruction was lead by Jaga, who was Claudus' advisor and friend. During the exodus of Thundera Lion-O
learned of his heritage. It was then that he first learned of The Sword of Omens, in which is embedded The Eye
of Thundera the source of the Thundercat's power. When their ship was damaged, Lion-O and the other
Thundercats made the journey to their new home in suspension capsules. When they arrived Lion-O was no
longer a boy, but a man ("Exodus"). Jaga, who perished during the trip, appears to Lion-O in order to continue
his guidence. At first, Lion-O needed all the help he could get from Jaga and his fellow Thundercats. However
he soon learned to be a decisive and responsible leader. Like a true leader, Lion-O made first contact with
several of Third Earth's native creatures. Among them were The Berbils, The Warrior Maidens of the Tree Top
Kingdom, The Unicorn Guardians, The Snowmen of Hook Mountain, to name a few ("Berbils","Trouble With
Time","The Terror of Hamerhand","Lord of the Snows" etc.). On Lion-O's 23rd birthday, he had become of age.
In order to stay lord he would have to defeat each Thundercat at whatever skill they were best at. He proved to
be stronger than Panthro ("The Trial of Strength"). By taking a dangerous shortcut, he beat Cheetara in a race
across the wildest country on Third Earth ("The Trial of Speed"). He tapped into his tricky side when it came
time to face the Thunderkittens ("The Trial of Cunning"). When faced with Tygra, Lion-O was forced to confront
his greatest fear, a nightmare of the day Thundera exploded ("The Trial of Mind Power","Thundercats Ho!").
After his triumph over the Thundercats, he had yet another trial to overcome. He faced Mumm-Ra in battle and,
by finding his weakness, defeated him as well ("The Trial of Evil"). Lion-O's strength and courage surpasses
that of all the Thundercats. He learned over time to accept help from his friends, where before he would be
offended at their attempts. Lion-O follows the code of Thundera to it's fullest. On few occasions, he has even
helped those that he calls enemies. He alone rescued Jackelman from drowning ("The Mountain"), he even
saved Mumm-Ra from the Book of Omens ("Key of Thundera"). Along with the other Thundercats, he rescued
Slythe from meeting his death ("Tight Squeeze"). Lion-O also suffers from memory block as he cannot recall
much of his childhood. He met his father once during a trip through the Time Capsule ("Return to Thundera").
He experienced a near death encounter during a battle with Mumm-Ra ("The Thunderscope").The other
Thundercats know that Claudus would be proud of his son.
Cheetara
Even when she was a young girl, Cheetara knew she had a special power ("Thundercubs"). Her insight goes
beyond that of female intuition. Like many of her breed, she has a 6th sense. Cheetara has had trouble dealing
with how to control her power. Although she used to believe it was a curse ("Ghost Warrior"), she finally
acknowledged that a great gift had been bestowed upon her ("The Telepathy Beam"). Cheetara's 6th sense
brought her to the brink of death when it began interacting with an alien vessel in distress ("Sixth Sense"). Her
super speed is an advantage like no other. Although it is a powerful ally, she can only maintain her top speed,
which is about 30 seconds to the mile, for about two miles ("The Trial of Speed","Pumm-Ra"). She also has a
fascination for gold, which is what saved Lion-O from killing himself in the Great Volcano ("All That Glitters"). It
was Cheetara's 6th sense that alerted the Thundercats to the fact that three other Thunderians survived
Thundera's explosion ("Thundercats Ho!"). Aside from her 6th sense and powerful speed, Cheetara is very
talanted with her power staff that she received from Jaga ("Exodus").When faced with a tough situation,
Cheetara does her best to examine the situation clearly. She will face any danger, no matter how terrifying or
treacherous, to save her friends ("Sword in a Hole", "Mumm-Ra Lives!" etc.).
Claudus
Lion-O's father and the previous Lord of the ThunderCats. Supposedly died on ThundERA when it exploded,
having helped the flagship with Lion-O and the other "original" Thunder Cats on it escape safely. Once gave
Lion-O the plans to destroy a war robot when he (Lion-O)traveled back in time. Lion-O used the plans to save
the other Thunder Cats. Later Lion-O discovered that the ShadowMaster had imprisoned Claudus in another
dimension. Lion-O freed him, but Claudus didn't return to New Thundera, instead staying on the Astral Plane
with Jaga.
Jaga
Jaga is a long time patriot of Thundera. When he was Lord of the Thundercats, an ancient samurai entrusted
Jaga to keep The Double Headed Dragon of Doom. He placed the dragon with the Treasure of Thundera
("The Jade Dragon"). Jaga lost his position as lord when he failed an annointment trial. Following this, Claudus
was next in line and he was able to meet all the trials expectations and then some. During a Plundarrian attack,
Claudus lost his sight. Since the Eye of Thundera would not work properly for him, it was turned over to Jaga. In
addition to being keeper of the Sword of Omens, Jaga become advisor to Claudus. While Claudus oversaw
the rest of Thundera, Jaga became the unofficial Lord of the Thundercats. He later carried on his position as
advisor to Claudus' son, Lion-O. Jaga was good friends with fellow Thundercat, Grune. Although Jaga's heart
soon told him Grune was hungry for power, and once Grune began looting Thunderian cities, Jaga banished
him from Thundera ("Ghost Warrior"). Jaga believed his greatest triumph was the time he captured The Sword
of Plundarr from the evil Ratilla the Terrible. He sealed the sword in the deepest canyon's of Thundera,
drowning it in molten rock. Years later, mysterious tremors tore Thundera apart. Jaga later learned it was The
Sword of Plundarr fighting to escape that destroyed his home planet ("Thundercubs"). Jaga became distraught
with guilt. When all the other Thundercat evacuation vessels were destroyed and the flagship was the only
remaining ship, they had to make their trip to Third Earth in suspension capsules. Jaga did not. He insisted on
piloting the ship maually as long as possible and died before they reached their destination ("Exodus"). He
now resides in a mysterious place known as the Astral World. As he continued to fight for good in his Astral
World, he was captured by an evil force and rescued by Lion-O ("The Astral Prison"). He appears to Lion-O
and offers him a perspective he cannot obtain anywhere else. While shrowded in mystery, Jaga's advice has
gotten Lion-O out of many situations ("Fond Memories","Berbils","Thundercubs",etc.). When Lion-O was killed
by Mumm-Ra, Jaga appeared and revived him ("The Thunderscope").
Kano
Lion-O's pet when he was a young boy on Thundera.
Panthro
Panthro is a most valuable member of the Thundercats. With the power of his nunchucks, he is an unstoppable
one man army. His technical knowledge equals that of his defensive techniques. Panthro even mixes his two
specialties, Like when he made modifications to his nunchucks, allowing him to conceal dangerous
substances in them. In the choatic exodus of Thundera, Panthro risked his life to save the Time Capsule ("The
Time Capsule","Return to Thundera","The Trial of Mind Power"). Although he would not admit it, Panthro fears
bats ("Safari Joe"). He put his enginuity to good use when he salvaged their wrecked ship and constructed a
Thundertank ("Berbils"). He offers Lion-O advice of common sense and how the world works. By using the
spirit of a deceased pirate to inhabit the body of a Panthro clone, Mumm-Ra planned to tarnish Panthro's
reputation. When the clone was defeated, the spirit went mad with vengeance and destroyed Mumm-Ra's
cloning equipment ("Spitting Image"). He has a tendency to be overconfident. It may be his overconfident
tendencies that makes him the most vulnerable to Alluro's magic ("Mumm-Ra Lives!"). While not always the
most pleasant to be around, the other Thundercats can always count on Panthro to be ready for action. When
they find themselves in what appears to be a "no-win" situation, Panthro is always the one to be thinking up a
plan ("Micrits","Garden of Delights" etc.).
Snarf (Osbert)
Lion-O's "nanny" on Thundera, Snarf is more of a house-cat than anything else. He stays in the Cat's Lair and
although he doesn't fight, he helps out the team in other ways. He watches out for Lion-O, making sure his
young Lord doesn't get into trouble, and gives advice on how to handle certain situations and problems that might develop.
Tygra
A true example of Thunderian intellect, Tygra is the architect of Cat's Lair ("Slaves of Castle
Plundarr","Pumm-Ra","Safari Joe"). Tygra was very shy as a child, a fact he later regreted ("Crystal Canyon").
His shyness decreased, but never went away, as he has never been among the most outspoken in any group.
Tygra was born with a special power. Along with his high intellect, he has the power to make illusions with only
a thought. The process however drains him, so he does not use it often ("The Trial of Mind Power"). Tygra's
natural ability to blend in is amplified by the bolo whip given to him by Jaga. He quickly mastered the weapon
with skill ("Exodus"). While searching for Thundrilium shortly after the Thundercat's arrival on Third Earth, Tygra
accidentally wondered into The Cave of Time. The cave caused him to grow old swiftly. It was only thanks to
fellow Thundercat Cheetara, that he was rescued. He was taken to the Geyser of Life. After bathing in it's
waters, he was returned to his normal age ("Trouble With Time"). Tygra became prone to a certain fruit and
almost handed the Sword of Omens to Mumm-Ra. Luckily, Mumm-Ra's spell wore off just in time ("Garden of
Delights"). His power of invisibility has helped him on more than one occasion ("Fireballs of
Plundarr","Pumm-Ra","Mumm-Rana",etc.). Red-Eye is among the few who can see Tygra in his invisible form.
Tygra cannot swim, unless he is invisible ("Safari Joe"). When helping to raise Lion-O, Tygra would give him
the most sound advice of all. He is prone to dibelief if warned of a danger that seems harmless. This has been
the cause of two addictions he has had to overcome ("Garden of Delights","Crystal Canyon"). Lion-O turns to
Tygra for advice and to think of a sensible explanation for the most unexplainable things. So respected is Tygra
that if anything should happen to Lion-O, Tygra is next in line for the position of Lord of the Thundercats ("All
That Glitters"). Jaga chose him to lead the Thundercats in a council meeting ("Pumm-Ra"). Tygra was chosen
to stay behind and guard the Tower of Omens when the other Thundercats relocated to New Thundera ("Return
to Thundera"). He visited Thundera later, but crashed in an unmapped area of Thundera ("The Mossland
Monster").
Wily Kat
Wily-Kat is more mischivious than most. Along with his twin sister Wily-Kit, they were both betrothed
Thundercats before their birth and have been raised to meet the expectations as such. This is not always easy
and Kat has a tendency to take it for granted ("Runaways"). Kat is usually with his sister when he talks her into
doing the most rediculious and immature things, many of which sprout from his intense curiousity. They
investigated the evil Robber Baron Carnor's tower to end his treachery. They chose to do so alone and Kat
was caught by one of his many traps, but Lion-O and his sister rescued him ("Tower of Traps"). His curiosity
didn't stop there. He and Kit accidentally let loose the evil of Mongor, the ancient god of fear. Although, it was
them that later helped stop his rampage ("Mongor"). He also feels unneeded when the Thundercats handle
dangers by themselves. This lead him to "borrowing" the grown ups weapons and trying to practice with them.
The Mutants then obtained them, and he and Kit had to help recover them ("Trouble With Thunderkittens"). He
and Kit also found a mysterious harp with magical powers. As they kept it a secret, the harp turned on them
and caused havoc ("The Evil Harp of Char-Nin"). Later, he talked Kit into running away from Cat's Lair. They
nearly died but were saved by a creature named Kudi ("Runaways"). Since he and Kit always are together, he
was quite upset when Lion-O seperated them during an important crisis. Because of that, and Kit were then
able to rescue the Thundercats that were currently imprisoned in Sky Tomb with the help of the Thundercubs
("Thundercubs"). It was then that Wily-Kat became more independant, and began to work alone more but was
still often with his sister. When he was mesmorized by the illustrious circus con man, Captain Bragg, he left with
him to help him capture the Lunatacs and the Mutants ("The Circus Train"). Both he and Kit were tricked by the
deadly Frogman of New Thundera, which almsot cost them their lives ("Frogman"). He and his sister both
became a slave to the dreadful powers of an ancient golden sphere that they discovered on New Thundera
("The Heritage"). His weapons consist of numerously powered pellets and a lariot. While he and his sister are
not designated to any vehicles, they both have spaceboards invented by Panthro ("The Time Capsule"). While
at first Wily-Kat's smart mouth and dangerously high curiosity look like a downfall for the Thundercats, they have
since learned Kat is a valuable and irreplacable member of the team ("Runaways").
Wily Kit
Wily Kat's twin sister. For biographical info, see Wily Kat.
Additions to the ThunderCats
Bengali
In the wake of Thundera's destruction, Bengali and two of his friends were barely rescued in time by a passing
alien spaceship. When they crashed in the middle of a Third Earth ocean, his blacksmith techniques helped
them to make shelter and defenses on a small deserted island ("Thundercats Ho!","Mumm-Ra lives!"). After
being captured by Mumm-Ra and later rescued by the Thundercats, they were so impressed they made he and
his comrads Thundercats ("Thundercats Ho!"). His fierce devotion comes from within and is undeminishable.
His blacksmith techniques came into good use again when it came time to make a weapon for himself. Using
an old hammer he found in the Thundrilium mine, he transformed it into The Hammer of Thundera. One of the
hammers first jobs was to reforge The Sword of Omens. He used it again in a failed attempt to forge a new
regulator for the Gyroscope ("Return to Thundera"). The Hammer has the ability to shoot bursts of power as
well as create a "smoky" diversion ("Mumm-Ra Lives","Catfight","Together We Stand" etc.). Although Lion-O
recognizes that Bengali's downfall is his craving for action. Because of that, Lion-O often finds it best for
Bengali to guard The Tower of Omens or Cat's lair. Although Bengali tends to argue each time, he tries to
understand Lion-O's decision ("Mumm-Ra Lives!","Thundercubs"). Bengali has a high sense of loyalty to his
friends and fellow Thundercats. He often will volunteer himself to save his friends ("Ravage
Island","Thundercats Ho!","Sound Stones" etc.). While it is not always the right decision to make, it shows his
extreme selflessness.
Lynx-o
Currently the oldest, Lynx-O is an irreplacable Thundercat. From his days on Thundera he was a great warrior.
Although he petitioned to become a Thundercat many times, his requests were denied because he had trouble
controlling his anger. Lynx-O sought peace, and as such, went on many retreats into the great hills of Thundera
trying to find a part of himself he had wanted for so long. Eventually settling down in his "old age", he became
good friends with Pumyra, a Thunderian who saved him from a near death encounter during one of his retreats.
She was glad to lend her healing techniques whenever someone was in need of them. Like many other
Thunderians, Lynx-O is scarred by the day Thundera blew up. As he, Pumyra, and another old friend struggled
to reach their assigned evacuation, a gigantic pillar from an ancient homestead came crashing down in front of
him. The flames that burst from the pillar left Lynx-O blind. Thanks to a passing Alien ship, he and his friends
were saved moments before Thundera exploded. Unfurtunatly, the ship did not have enough power to reach
their destination. They lived for years in the middle of the ocean, on a small deserted island on Third Earth.
Mumm-Ra captured the three of them and held them captive until the noble Thundercats rescued them
("Thundercats Ho!"). So began Lynx-O's long awaited life as a Thundercat. As Lynx-O had studied Thundercat
laws and regulations for years, he took to the job like a fish to water. Shortly following, the Tower of Omens was
constructed. Lynx-O's other senses had become so powerful that he could gather data from objects and
interpret them on what is called a Braile Board. The Tower's Cat's Eye worked in conjunction with that so he
would know when an enemy was planning an attack. Lynx-O's senses of sound and distance is what allows the
Thundercats to go through The Forest of Mists ("Mumm-Ra Lives!","Sideswipe", etc.). His light sheild catches
light rays from the sun and magnifies them by 100 percent ("Together We Stand","Psych Out","The
Thunderscope"). His senses also have driven him mad. Such was the case when he learned of the Gorgon
("The Mask of Gorgon"). The fact that Lynx-O cannot see helps protect him from certain spells where lights or
beacons are used for a hypnotic effect ("Psych Out","Ravage Island" etc.). He mans the pilot chair of the
Thunderstrike. Because Lynx-O has been around for so long, the other Thundercats can look to him for
explanations of the past ("Thundercubs","The Thunderscope"). Because of his many petitions to be a member
of the Thundercat force, over time he developed a friendship with Lion-O's father Claudus ("Thundercats
Ho!","Together We Stand"). The fact that he is blind does not deterr him from being not only valuable team
member, but also a great warrior ("Thundercats Ho!","Together We Stand","Sound Stones","Thundercubs"
etc.).
Pumyra
Pumyra's power of flexibility and agility goes beyond that of the other Thundercats. Surprisingly, gymnastics
were not her strong point growing up. She wanted to become a healer and help those that are hopelessly ill
("Together We Stand"). Mostly, Pumyra is not very outspoken. She knows what is happening, but choses to let
the other Thundercats work it out. Although she will offer her input if no one else shares her ideas. Good
reasoning for her shyness when it comes to being a contributing member, may be that she had never even
contemplated joining the Thundercats, but was swept up in a unique situation. As a kid, she was what was
known as a "tom cat". Unlike most Thunderian females who were busy playing thunderian games, she was
busy practicing her sling shot. Since she has become a Thundercat, her slingshot combines with special
pellets to make an unstoppable weapon in the hands of Pumyra ("The Formula","Catfight"). When the other
Thundercats moved to New Thundera, Pumyra was chosen to stay behind and guard Cat's Lair ("Return to
Thundera").
Snarfer
Snarf's nephew from the Planet of Snarf's. Helps with the maintanance of the Tower of Omens.
Allies of the ThunderCats
Hachiman
Samuri Warrior. Tricked by Mumm-Ra into believing Mumm-Ra was
his Shogun and the the Thundercats (Lion-O in particular) where evil.
Hachiman posseses a sword called Thundercutter. Hachiman and Lion-O
fight a brief battle then realize they are on the same side.
Mandora
Mandora is a member of the Interplanetary Control Force. She does
everything by the book, and often quotes "chapter and verse" when ever
a rule or regulation is broken. With her Enzyme Catalyser, soap gun,
and her great agility Mandora proves to be a dangerous foe to Plutar
and Ooze, or any other polluting villain.
