The Cat's Lair is the base and home to the ThunderCats on Third Earth. It is nearly impenetrable and as of yet I have been unsuccessful in by attempts to destroy it. It provides much protection to the ThunderCats as my Pyramid does to me.
Cat's Lair has been the home of Thundercats for generations. On Thundera, Cat's Lair's main concept was the same ("Thundercats Ho!","Thundercubs"). However, when Thundera exploded and the Thundercat's found themselves stranded on an inhosbitable planet, Tygra made his own modifications to the legendary structure.
Originally, it was planned that the Lair would be constructed over a large period of time ("Unholy Allies", "Berbils"). This was not the case however as the Thundercats received much help from their new neighbors, the Robear-Berbils ("Berbils","Slaves of Castle Plundarr"). Among it's many features, Cat's Lair has
a retractable drawbridge for their security (First seen in "Pumm-Ra"). It also contains the most high-tech machinery on Third Earth with defensive weaponry of unbelievable power (First used in "Pumm-Ra"). The Lair is powered by Thundrilium, a power source not so easy to come by on Third Earth ("Lord of the Snows", "Trouble With Time", "Mumm-Ra Lives!"). Following an intrusion by Mumm-Ra, at least one Thundercat is on guard at all times ("Pumm-Ra"). The people of Third Earth always rest comfortably knowing Cat's Lair is keeping an eye out. With it's telescopic equipment, it can see for miles around ("Slaves of Castle Plundarr"). The Lair has become the victim of many attacks. Both the Mutants, and later, the Lunatacs, saw the Lair's destruction to be a key to the end of the Thundercats ("Catfight","Together We Stand","Micrits","The Last Day","Day of the Eclipse",etc.). Cat's Lair was disintegrated momentarily from an evil spell cast by Mumm-Ra. The Eye of Thundera was able to break the spell and restore it ("Day of the Eclipse"). While Pumyra remained to guard the original, the other Thundercats constructed a New Cat's Lair on New Thundera ("Return to Thundera", although not completed until "Leah"). The New Lair's design is very different from the one on Third Earth. It's basic concepts and disposition remained the same, several big details are completely disimiliar. Among the most obvious is the Lair's main head (first seen in "Return to Thundera").
