Rider and Will- How We're Spending Our Summer Vacations!
This is from an issue of Superstars that nearly two years old. It had articles of how both Will and Rider spent their vacation away from Boy Meets World before going back for season number three.
Rider wasted no time before starting
his summer vacation. Less than a day after Boy Meets World wrapped up
for the summer, Rider was on a plane with his tutor, headed for
Europe- specifically England and France. Rider is good friends with his teacher, so the
purpose of the trip was both educational and fun! Why Europe? “It was kind of a mutual
decision between my tutor and I,” Rider told Superstars. “We knew we wanted to
go to Europe some time and England was the best choice because we’re really inot British
poets. This whole year I’ve been studying them.” It turns out Rider had been to England
before, but he was only five, so that doesn’t really count!
Although they
stayed mostly in London for their two week trip, the two travelers made it a point to see a
lot of the surrounding countryside. “We drove up to Oxford, of course, and then went
over to Stratford-on-Avon (Shakespeare’s birthplace)- that’s a cool little town. And then I
went to Hampstead- I saw Keats’ house and everything!” That was especially exciting for
Rider because Keats is one of his favorite poets! But the real highlight of England for
Rider was going to the theater!
London is reknowned for it’s theater- a lot of
shows that earn raves on Broadway actually play in England first! Rider took full
advantage of being in such a theatrical city. “I was seeing like two plays a day,” Rider
told us. “It was so such fun!” One of the shows he was Les Miserables - the same
show he was in when he first started acting professionally in San Franciso! Why
go see a show you’ve already been in? “I wanted to see it in London, which is where it
started- and it was great to see it,” said Rider. “They’ve been doing it for like six years or
something- it’s incredible it’s still playing! There was a full house and a standing ovation!
Although England was the major destination for Rider, he did make it to France for three days. "I take French (in school) so that was the mainly educational part of the trip," he says. Did anything special happen in Paris, Rider? "Well, we walked around Paris at three in the morning- that was really cool!" Unfortunately, the next day all of the museum personnel in Paris went on strike-so much for seeing the Mona Lisa at the Louvre! That's why Rider decided to cut short his time in France and go back to London where he was having so much fun!
The rest of Rider's summer plans weren't as exotic, but just as much fun. The Boy Meets World star just wants to chill out at home in Northern California and spend time hanging out with his friends from home. He loves to go camping and backpacking with his buddies- y'know all the things any 15-year-old* guy likes to do!
*When this was written, Rider was 15. He's now 17.
