Batter Up!

Meet the famous Celebrity All-Stars...

It doesn't take much cajoling to convince a bunch of men -- no matter how famous or how many stylists they employ -- to partake in a game of baseball and relive childhood fantasies to one day play for the N.Y. Yankees or the L.A. Dodgers. Proving us correct were OLTL's Mark Derwin (Ben), film actors William Baldwin, Sean and MacKenzie Astin, as well as primetime leading men Jonathan Silverman, Scott Wolf, Kevin James, as they came out for a softball game to benefit Project A.L.S.

It was Baldwin at the bat - William Baldwin that is -- on a temperate Sept. 1 in Staten Island's Richmond Country Bank Ballpark. Hundreds of fans were treated to a star-filled softball game benefiting Project ALS which raises awareness and money for the research into the degenerative disease. Daytime actors Mark Consuelos (Mateo, All My Children ) and Mark Derwin (Ben, One Life To Live ) joined Baldwin and prime-time favorites like Scott Wolf (Bailey, Party of Five) on the New York All-Star team. They took on the Hollywood All-Stars, composed of celebs such as Baywatch's Michael Bergin, The Lord of the Rings' Sean Astin, The King of Queens' Kevin James and NYPD Blue's Esai Morales (Lt. Tony Rodrigues). Morales said, "This is exercise, it's ritual, it's teamwork. I'm extremely competitive, but extremely filial -- my teammates and my opponets are my brothers." His blue-and-red-clad team beat the hardworking "New Yawkers" 5-2.

One Song To Sing

Photo On Left: Laurence Lau (Sam) and Mark Derwin (Ben) seemed to agree that some contestants won't score any record deals.

It wasn't Viki singing I WILL SURVIVE, but the joint was jumpin as the stars of One Life To Live came together at the sixth annual Sing-A-Long Spectacular to benefit Rainbows Hope at Rabs Country Lanes on Staten island August 25. The event hosted by Goumba Johnny, the host of morning radio on New York's WKTU, raised more than $32,000 to help children who are striken with chronic and life-threatening illnesses.

Michael Tipps (Al, left), Brandon Routh (Seth) and Jessica Morris (Jennifer)
were delighted to see these children enjoy the sounds of the singing contentants.

Sixteen singers were selected to perform in an organized competition, which was judged by the actor and producers. The evening concluded with an autograph signing, allowing OLTL fans to meet and greet their favorite stars.

Routh and Melissa Archer (Seth and Natalie) may be devious on-screen
but the duo had only good intentions when it came to supporting the children.
