Hand-Me-Down Heaven
"Every time Rena's dad comes to town he asks me if I have any old tennis shoes. We wear the same size, and I guess he likes them broken in," Wally says, noting his father-in-law "is the kind of guy who doesn't like to buy anything new. He's Mr. Second Hand. He's been wearing the same cut-offs for the last three years. So I give him my used tennis shoes, and he's happy."
This year, Wally plans on really adding to Martin's shoe collection. Aside from the old tennies, Wally intends to raid Ned's footwear closet, too. "Often on General Hospital, we have these scenes that take place in a gym. Wardrobe gives us these cheap, no-name tennis shoes to wear; we never see them again. They just get stuck in the back of a closet," Wally says. "I don't think the show would miss a pair of tennis shoes. And I know Ned wouldn't."
"I think I'll look to see if there are any worn loafers in there, too. Martin might like them. And, of course, I'll reimburse General Hospital for whatever I take."
